6 ways with khaki

The cyclical nature of fashion means that we often see colours have a moment one season, then disappear, only to make a triumphant return a few years later. Which is why we’re once again saying hello to khaki as a major colour trend this season. It may initially seem like a daunting colour to try at first glance, however if you know the colours that complement it, you can incorporate it into your wardrobe quite easily. Try these khaki pieces to instantly update an outfit.

khaki skirt

While you might not be so daring as to wear a skirt split to there a simple A-line or pencil skirt in this shade works well with white, black and grey. You could get away with it for work as long as the hemline is quite modest.

khaki tee

If you’re not ready to make a big fashion commitment to this trend, you can incorporate it into your wardrobe quite inexpensively with a simple khaki tee. It works well with culottes (as you can see on the only and only Margaret Zhang) and by adding an unexpected pop of colour with your shoes, you give the outfit a focal point.

khaki shirt

A button down shirt in this shade can work with shorts for a casual look just as easily as it would a pair of jeans or a black skirt for evening attire.

A jacket in a khaki colour is the perfect piece to match with jeans and sneakers for a day that’s spent out and about. Keep the material lightweight for those cooler summer evenings and go heavier once we head back into autumn.

A mid length khaki dress is an easy option for daywear or evenings. Team it with a pair of heels for a dressier look or a pair of tan sandals for the perfect summer outfit.

man repeller khaki vest

A khaki vest works well with a pair of leather shorts and a tee (you could even work it with denim if you wish). Whilst you might not want to go the heels route a la The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine, you could easily just pop on a pair of flats or sandals and keep it quite laidback.
