This spring/summer your strongest feature will be… your shoulders. The trend towards off the shoulder tops, dresses and jumpsuits during the Northern Hemisphere summer means that we’ll all be channelling the “I’ve-just-been-hanging-out-at-the-Greek-Islands” vibe once we’ve truly welcomed the warmer weather on our side of the world. What’s great about this trend is that’s versatile and whether you choose a top in a floaty fabric, crisp white or a fun print, the relaxed boho feel of this trend makes it a spring/summer staple. Here are 6 ways to introduce this trend into your wardrobe.

Substitute your usual go-to white tee and flash some shoulder instead. Team it with tailored shorts for a smart casual look and add a touch of suede to give it a slight 70s feel. (Flowers optional!)

Jessica Stein of Tuula Vintage wears an updated take on the playsuit. The crisp white colour, broderie anglaise and off the shoulder neckline give this a fresh, summery feel. If you’re planning a beach holiday any time soon, this style is a must.

Miroslava Duma can do no wrong and is the perfect example of combining a slightly dressier off the shoulder blouse with denim shorts for a more relaxed vibe. Bonus points if you can also incorporate one of spring/summer’s big sunnies trends – round frames.

Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Girl does a great smart casual look by teaming an off the shoulder blouse with striped pants. Keep the blouse simple and in a block colour and make the pants the focal point.

The denim skirt has made a comeback, so why not embrace both trends? Team a crisp white off the shoulder top, with a denim A-line skirt and some sandals and you’re set for a day at the beach or a casual lunch with the girls.

What do you think of this trend? Will you be embracing it this spring/summer?
