Spring Racing: Derby day

9th October, 2014

Spring racing is here and Derby Day is my favourite day of the carnival because I love the tradition of black and white attire. But this season it’s all about white-on-white! I think head-to-toe white is such an elegant look as it really makes you stand out against the sea of black.  If you want to keep to tradition you can still incorporate a monochrome look with a hint of black through your accessories.

Here are some dos and don’ts to really make your Derby Day outfit stand out from the rest:

Do’s:

-Beautiful tailoring is key for Derby Day.

-Stand out from the crowd with a statement headpiece.

-To compliment the black and white theme, you can always go for a dark nail colour but when in doubt, accessorising with gold and using a neutral nail shade is always a winning look. See my favourite Derby Day nail colours HERE.

Don’t:

-Derby Day is all about a classic look and it is the most elegant of all the days so leave the sequins and mid-drifts at home!

-White heels work well with the theme but be sure to keep them clean! (A small pack of wet wipes are always handy.)

-It’s all about attention to detail on Derby Day so no fallen hems and chipped nails!
