What I Wore: The trench coat

10th August, 2017

Along with a classic coat which I wrote about here I think a trench coat is a fashion staple that can work in so many different ways. It constantly features on many a fashion magazine’s round-up of key wardrobe pieces to have due to its timeless look and enduring style appeal. And no wonder—it can be paired with virtually everything and instantly adds a chic touch to even the most casual of outfits. In this instance I’ve gone for a relaxed day look by teaming it my favourite leather pants, a simple white tee and my go-to Gucci slides. I’ve made it a little more on trend by wearing the sleeves rolled up and tying the belt in the back which also gives it a more nonchalant feel. I can see this trench coat being easily popped on over a dress for the evening or with jeans and a button-down shirt for an elevated take on a casual ensemble.

What I Wore: Quiet elegance

21st June, 2016

Unexpected silhouettes and finishes are one of the things I always look for in a dress which is why I particularly loved the asymmetrical finish of this moss green Christopher Esber dress. It gave it a unique touch. I don’t often wear this shade either so it was nice to do something different. Accessories are always a key component to any outfit and it’s often what brings cohesion to the overall look, so with that in mind I thought as the dress is quite soft and feminine I wanted to team it with my cut-out Givenchy ankle boots to ground the look and give it some edge. A dark bag would have blended in a little too much for this particular look so I opted for a Givenchy Antigona in a nude shade to provide some contrast. My Ellery sunglasses and Eddie Borgo choker add a sense of modern sophistication to the outfit.

What I Wore: Black magic

14th June, 2016

43A little black dress is a mainstay in my wardrobe for its versatility and practicality but rest assured an LBD doesn’t have to be boring. I loved this TOME dress because of its one-shoulder neckline and also its plissé fabric. The pleating elevates the look and gives it touch of understated elegance. I think there’s no better pairing than a classic black evening dress and striking gold accessories and this Eddie Borgo choker gives an otherwise demure look a slightly tough edge. I think the outfit needed an strong anchor point – something a little more solid than stilettos – so I chose to go with a pair of Givenchy cut-out ankle boots instead. A black clutch would have have been a little too match-matchy so I opted for a white Chanel clutch to add a pop of colour to the look. Further proof that you can never go wrong with a little black dress.

Shop the look: Killer heels

3rd February, 2016

Any shoe that falls into the statement heels category has my heart. Show-stopping heels are one of the quickest and easiest ways to take an outfit next-level. In fact, I often update my wardrobe each season by buying one to two pairs of statement heels. I find that it’s the kind of purchase I can always get plenty of wear out of in the years to come. All my favourite designers’ shoe game has been strong this season but these are some of my current faves. Hopefully you’ll find a new addition to your shopping list!

PROENZA SCHOULER

Mules are huge this season, but when you also add a metallic heel and knot detailing it definitely seals the deal as a purchase worth making.

STUART WEITZMAN

Simple, classic and elegant – you cannot go wrong with this shoe. This is a style that every woman should have as it’s a great go-to shoe for when you’re dressing up for a night out or for a formal occasion such as a wedding.

GIVENCHY

Ah leopard print. The unexpected neutral. I’ve got a few leopard print pieces in my wardrobe and I’ve found they’re quite easy to mix and match so this statement heel would definitely be in high rotation for me.

SOPHIA WEBSTER

These caged heels would get a major workout in my wardrobe. This style while intricate and quite bold would work easily with everything from a pair of leather leggings to a cocktail dress to a skirt.

CAMILLA AND MARC

If you’re not a fan of a teetering on a stiletto heel then a block heel is ideal as it provides slightly more support (not to mention it’s easier to walk in!). The gold buckles and multistrap design makes this statement heel quite modern and fresh.

ALAÏA

I love Alaïa heels for their great craftsmanship but also the fact they’re just so fashion-forward. The beautiful blush colour makes this an easy shoe to mix and match with lots of different looks but the cutouts and stitching are the kind of finishing touches that elevate it from your average, garden-variety heel.

CAMILLA AND MARC

The fringe detailing on this shoe adds just the right amount of interest to make it stand out but the fact it’s black makes it a staple.
