17th March, 2017

It seems we’ll all be embracing a little frill this season with ruffles emerging as a major trend. Prepare to see it on everything from dresses to shirts to shoes and bags. It’s ever so feminine so if you don’t want your look to be too girly try to complement it with more structured pieces such as jeans with a ruffled blouse or a blazer worn over a dress with a frilled finish. As anything with a ruffle is already quite the statement piece keep the rest of your look quite pared back so as not to overwhelm.

A new season is a great time to hit refresh on your wardrobe but with the range of trends hitting the stores now it can be hard to pinpoint just which pieces your wardrobe will need throughout the next few months. If you’re looking for the top trends for spring look no further than these four pieces…

Slip dress

The ’90s trend has really hit with everything from chokers to floral dresses making their way into our wardrobes. However if there’s one piece that you’ll be guaranteed to get plenty of use out of it’s a great slip dress. A simple black number can easily be worn on its own or teamed with a t-shirt for the ultimate in ’90s combinations. Throw on a bomber, denim or leather jacket over it and you can easily dress it up or down according to the occasion. When teamed with a blazer (to really be on trend try a double breasted cut) it instantly looks polished. It’s a piece that will easily be on high rotation.

Ruffles

This time around ruffles are bolder and more structured and are making their way into everything from dresses to tops and skirts so you’re guaranteed to spot the trend everywhere. When it comes to wearing ruffles be sure to keep the rest of your outfit pared back to allow it to be the focal point of your look – it’s quite dramatic so you don’t want it to overwhelm.

Wide leg pants

Cropped wide leg pants are a fresh addition to your wardrobe for summer. With an alluring flash of ankle it can be teamed with everything from sandals, to statement heels and sneakers. The best bit is its both office and weekend appropriate so you’ll be guaranteed to get plenty of wear out of it. A navy pair is a great option to have in your wardrobe as it’s so versatile but don’t be afraid to experiment with a printed pair for a fun look.

Off the shoulder

Ah the off the shoulder trend. It’s certainly not showing signs of going away anytime soon. Whether you dabble in the trend with a top or dress, the style will certainly be everywhere this season. It’s a piece that can easily be dressed up or down and looks particularly chic in a crisp white. There are plenty of great prints and colours available in store now so you’re sure to find one to suit your style.
