Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Metallica

2nd March, 2021

Every so often I just want to break the rules when it comes to event dressing. I’m all for beautiful classic pieces, but sometimes a dress just comes along that demands to be worn. This De La Vali dress is just that. The metallic green lame is a match made in heaven for parties. Colour aside, the rest of the dress is tailored for statement-making event wear. The ruching along the sleeves and the peaked shoulder detail, are both standout elements that really elevate this dress, while the classic crossover style tempers the more edgy features, achieving a great balance.

I wanted to keep the colour going so I opted for some bright jewellery by Chaumet. I went for a few matching pieces in the form of the bracelets and necklaces I chose to tie them all together but experimented in the different colours I chose. While the cross features of the rings helped bridge all the pieces together. When working with such a bright colour, I wanted to add pieces that would help accentuate the overall look and feel, but without being too overwhelming, so the fact the necklaces and bracelets are quite delicate helped with the overall balancing act.

What I Wore: Puff Piece

22nd September, 2020

I love working with a great statement top to anchor an entire look, such as this Hellessy top. The gorgeous puff sleeve silhouette is right on-trend and such a fun piece to work with. And the teal shade is just the right amount of freshness for a spring look. While the cold shoulder detail and the ruching finish on the sweetheart neckline all add just the right amount of drama to really elevate this look.

To allow the top to take centre stage I paired it with a white pair of Bec and Bridge jeans. These pants have been on high rotation as I love the fact they’re so easy to pair with most things, but the little touches like the subtle pintuck details helps give it a little extra depth.

I decided to venture down the path of bold accessories. In this instance it was all about a crisp white, structured Bulgari bag to add a touch of elegance. While blush pink Le Specs sunglasses added a funky and playful touch.

What I Wore: The Classic Coat

8th August, 2017

The perfect neutral winter coat has been on my wish list for awhile. Finding one with just the right colour, cut, and finishing details is all important to me so when it all perfectly comes together in the form of a double-breasted coat in just the right shade I had to snap it up! There are key investment pieces in my wardrobe and a gorgeous winter topper definitely falls into that category. I think every girl should own at least one versatile coat, of the best quality she can afford, that can work with myriad looks and will last for years to come. I can see this Chloe number having many outings as its camel tone makes it so easy to pair with virtually any outfit. For this particular ensemble I wanted to play with elements of light and shade so I opted for bold accessories in dark shades to really allow the neutral hue to pop.

STEAL:

While I’m all about classic, neutral tones sometimes it’s feminine and fun to be able to incorporate pink hues and pretty blush colours into an outfit. If you’re not usually one to wear pink in your wardrobe these style and steal items will soon have you changing your mind.

For a splurge I can’t go past these investment items (clockwise from left):

These Roland Mouret broderie anglaise shorts are a pretty and polished with just the right amount of intricate detailing to make them stand out from the crowd.

The Chloe shoulder bag is the perfect size to fit all the essentials. The soft leather and rounded shape is sleek and polished and can easily be worn day and night which makes it the kind of splurge item that will give you bang for your fashion buck.

Is there anything more classic than a pair of pearl earrings? These gold pearl earrings are versatile to fit both an off-duty and elegant look.

The Rupert Sanderson heels are the perfect statement shoe for everything from a wedding to a cocktail party. The soft hue will mean they will work season after season plus they are handcrafted to last.

Bringing pink into your life doesn’t need to be expensive. These picks will brighten up your life, without the big price tag! (clockwise from left)

I love stylish old school pieces and this pink leather card holder is just that!

Let your accessories do the talking by opting for a pop of pink. The above Rebecca Minkoff satchel is a great way to bring colour into any outfit.

Why hide your lingerie when it’s as pretty as this soft lace bralette by Pleasure State? Super comfortable yet oh-so sexy.

What’s better than a great designer find? When it’s on sale! It would just be rude not to snap up these pastel pink Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses from The Outnet.

I have a collection of Christian Paul watches which work well with myriad outfits. The marble face on this is eye-catching and the pink band gives it a point of difference.
