What I Wore: Green Dream

25th August, 2020

Playing with volume is always a great way to dial up the drama of a look and it’s especially the case with this Aje look. This ruffled off the shoulder number is a playful, feminine piece and is the ideal focal point to my outfit. The combination of the puffed sleeves, ruching and vibrant green hue, makes it the ideal statement piece for long summer days.

Working with a voluminous piece, I think you either have to scale it right down and go for a super slimline option to pair with it or embrace the volume and go big. I opted for the latter. This tiered skirt, also by Aje, works within the same green colour family, but adds a little extra depth with the moss green shade. It’s also an interesting silhouette to play with, with the asymmetrical ruffle feature giving it a little extra character.

As far accessories go, I don’t think there’s a better pairing than gold and green, so I went for a pair of drop earrings in the metallic hue, which also adds a little extra to my overall look. I played with striking elements with this outfit and wanted to continue it in my choice of footwear so I opted for beige mesh heels by Bottega Veneta. They’re such a fashion forward style that I felt they helped elevate this ensemble even further, and add the perfect finishing flourish.
