Shop the look: Killer heels

3rd February, 2016

Any shoe that falls into the statement heels category has my heart. Show-stopping heels are one of the quickest and easiest ways to take an outfit next-level. In fact, I often update my wardrobe each season by buying one to two pairs of statement heels. I find that it’s the kind of purchase I can always get plenty of wear out of in the years to come. All my favourite designers’ shoe game has been strong this season but these are some of my current faves. Hopefully you’ll find a new addition to your shopping list!

PROENZA SCHOULER

Mules are huge this season, but when you also add a metallic heel and knot detailing it definitely seals the deal as a purchase worth making.

STUART WEITZMAN

Simple, classic and elegant – you cannot go wrong with this shoe. This is a style that every woman should have as it’s a great go-to shoe for when you’re dressing up for a night out or for a formal occasion such as a wedding.

GIVENCHY

Ah leopard print. The unexpected neutral. I’ve got a few leopard print pieces in my wardrobe and I’ve found they’re quite easy to mix and match so this statement heel would definitely be in high rotation for me.

SOPHIA WEBSTER

These caged heels would get a major workout in my wardrobe. This style while intricate and quite bold would work easily with everything from a pair of leather leggings to a cocktail dress to a skirt.

CAMILLA AND MARC

If you’re not a fan of a teetering on a stiletto heel then a block heel is ideal as it provides slightly more support (not to mention it’s easier to walk in!). The gold buckles and multistrap design makes this statement heel quite modern and fresh.

ALAÏA

I love Alaïa heels for their great craftsmanship but also the fact they’re just so fashion-forward. The beautiful blush colour makes this an easy shoe to mix and match with lots of different looks but the cutouts and stitching are the kind of finishing touches that elevate it from your average, garden-variety heel.

CAMILLA AND MARC

The fringe detailing on this shoe adds just the right amount of interest to make it stand out but the fact it’s black makes it a staple.

I love clashing prints. If you’re going to do print on print it’s best to make them clash. I think it creates more of an impact than having head to toe matching prints. I really like the graphic print on this black and White Sportmax jumper and decided to team it with one of my old Balenciaga vintage skirts – it’s still in the same monochrome family but the prints are really contrasting.

This is my take on a traditional suit. It might be too plunging or risqué for others but you could easily make it office-friendly by putting a shirt underneath or swap the skirt for one sans split. If you had a lower heel for the office and a statement heel for a night out I think it’s a really great look to take you from the office to after work drinks.

What I wore: Metallics

21st May, 2015

I think metallics are really versatile. I think this metallic Alex Perry dress is great for a nighttime party look, especially if you’re looking for something a bit more dramatic and different. But if you want to wear metallics during the day you could team a metallic skirt with a white shirt and some brogues. Easy!

What I Wore: Prix De marie claire

23rd April, 2015

I braved the crazy torrential downpour we’ve been having in Sydney to attend the Prix De Marie Claire awards on Tuesday night and I’m so glad I did – it was an amazing evening. I wanted to go for more moodier tones so I opted for this Christopher Esber dress and my statement Alaia heels.

What I Wore: MBFWA Day Four

Sydney really turned it on for the last day of Fashion Week so I opted for a monochrome look with this white Alex Perry mini shift dress and Alaia booties. To cap off a great week I attended a lunch being hosted by Martin Grant and QANTAS at Rockpool Bar and Grill where they announced Martin would be designing the new pilot uniforms for the airline. This is always a fun time of year for me but I will be glad to put my feet up after a hectic few days!

What I Wore: MBFWA Day Two

14th April, 2015

It was a gorgeous day today so what better time to wear a bright sunny yellow! I wore my favourite leather jacket over my dress which gave it a slightly more casual feel. It was another jam packed day today but I have to say, after checking out the Toni Maticevski show, it was definitely my favourite show so far!

ELLERY

I recently wore this bronze Ellery dress to the Cosmopolitan birthday event in Woolloomooloo. I teamed it with black Alaia heels and Karen Walker sunglasses.

WHAT I WORE

On day five of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia I wore a Camilla and Marc look from their SS13/14 collection. I love the unique details of this dress, including the cut-out back and the asymmetrical hemline with black lining. I added my Alaia heels and Proenza Schouler clutch and I was set to take on the final day of MBFWA!
