8 pieces worth snapping up during Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In

15th October, 2021

Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In (VAEFNI) is back for 2021, celebrating Australia’s amazing fashion, beauty and retail industry. This year VAEFNI will feature a series of unmissable virtual experiences and an offer for American Express Card Members.

The event is taking place from Oct 15-24 and as there are so many online shopping offers available, if you’ve got a healthy shopping list of items you want to buy then it’s the perfect time to do so! I’ve got a few things I’ve had my eye on and I’m definitely going to take the opportunity to snap them up. As with any shopping event I like scoping out what’s on offer ahead of time to ensure I’m making a considered buy and these are the pieces I definitely think are worth a place in anyone’s wardrobe. Ready, set, shop!

Camilla and Marc Minsk Dress

The vibrant shade of yellow made me stop in my tracks when I saw this dress and then I fell in love with the details. The print is gorgeous and such a classic, but it was the intricate tie detail that had me sold. It makes for a striking addition to the design, and it looks even better at the back. The drop waist also adds a sophisticated feel.

Dion Lee Lung Twist Dress

I’m a huge fan of Dion Lee from way back and this just dress just cemented my love for the brand even more. Look at that twist detail! The corrugated pleats achieve a bold textural effect that make this dress perfect for a big event. The mid length style and long sleeves also aid the dramatic effect this look achieves. Consider this your little white dress for events season.

Viktoria & Woods Fleetwood Jean

I’ve invested in a few pairs of jeans from Viktoria & Woods in the past and can attest to the cut, fit and style. They’re a versatile jean that sits well, is flattering and can be dressed up or down. This wide leg pair in a crisp white is a perfect spring piece that can be worked into so many different looks and adds a new season freshness to any ensemble.

Viktoria & Woods Coty One Piece

I adore one pieces and they’ve quickly become my go-to when it comes to swimwear. The one shoulder silhouette is very on trend and is definitely the swimwear silhouette of the season. The double straps add a touch of drama, lifting this design from just any ol’ black swimsuit! What I love about swimwear like this is that it can also double as a bodysuit, giving you twice as many outfit options, and makes it a high contender for the must-pack piece for any summer holiday.

Viktoria & Woods Ironside Trench

Summer trenches are a big trend and it’s no wonder because with such a failsafe fashion staple, why just save it for one season? The cut is perfect for wearing over denim or popped on nonchalantly over a dress and it can be worn virtually all year round. It definitely makes for a great cost per wear buy.

Lululemon Align Tank Top

I can’t seem to wean myself off activewear. It’s just too comfy an outfit option! This tank works great as a set when worn with the matching leggings and can easily transition from workout to coffee. It comes in an array of colours so if you’re wanting to mix and match or just want something a bit more bold, this is definitely a tank top worth considering.

Lululemon Align High-Rise Leggings

All my leggings are high waisted because I find they’re more flattering and I love the support and coverage they offer. This pair by Lululemon is a great cut and length and when worn with the above tank it’s a pairing that you can wear exercising or just out and about.

Aje Serendipity Cut Out Dress

How dreamy is this dress? Aje can always be relied on to produce the kind of dresses that you just want to wear and this is such a great option for summer. Featuring the brand’s signature puffy sleeves and cutout detail it’s a bold dress that’s injected with a little playfulness. Another must-have from one of my fave Aussie labels.

What I Wore: NGV Gala

5th December, 2018

Black tie events are always so much fun to attend partly because of the sheer enjoyment that comes from being able to get really dressed up. Being able to wear an amazing ball gown is a huge departure from my usual uniform of jeans and sneakers so it was so exciting to be able to attend the NGV Gala over the weekend and really dial up the glamour.

The Steven Khalil dress I wore was an absolute dream. I tried on a few options but I immediately loved the fitted bodice and full skirt of the dress when I saw it. Elegant and sexy all at the same time, plus you really can’t go wrong with black when it comes to dressy occasions.

Wearing black often requires statement accessories to lift it and give it some depth so I opted for a fun metallic pink Bvlgari bag from my wardrobe. It’s a shade that makes a great contrast piece and added a nice pop of colour to my ensemble. As far as jewellery went, I went for a pair of amazing drop earrings and a bangle. Just enough bling to stand out without it being too overwhelming.

It was so much fun to be able to step away from my everyday wardrobe and explore such a high glam look. Every girl needs a reason to get dolled up once and awhile, right?

Journey to the NGV Gala

3rd December, 2018

Over the weekend I had the honour of being invited to attend the NGV Gala in Melbourne. It’s an incredible event that that takes place at the National Gallery of Victoria. It’s always such a beautiful occasion with an interesting mix of high profile guests (this year the likes of Natalie Portman and Poppy Delevingne were in attendance at the event) and top notch entertainment. The event was in partnership with American Express this year, with a lot of the focus on platinum moments. One aspect of which was a gorgeous gown created especially for the event to celebrate the launch of the exhibition Escher x nendo ‘Between Two Worlds’ at the gallery. The creation was by couture designer Paolo Sebastian and inspired the American Express Platinum card, and the dress Poppy Delevingne wore on the night.

The lead up and prep for an event like this is hectic so as a long time American Express card holder, I was glad to have it by my side the entire time. From booking flights, to hair and makeup and my beautiful Steven Khalil dress, it made the entire process easier and made my journey to the NGV Gala a seamless one. And when you’re frantically trying to get all the elements of attending a black tie event locked in you definitely don’t want any hiccups along the way.

My outfit was by far the most important thing to lock in for this event so I was glad to have the assistance of my go-to stylist Jess Pecoraro to help me out. We both knew Steven Khalil would have something perfect for the event so I spent some time in his showroom trying on difference dresses before I eventually decided on the black ball gown that I wore on Saturday.

Having decided on a dress I opted for a beautiful Bvlgari metallic pink bag and earrings and bangle to accessorise my look. Simple, elegant, but also with just the right glam factor to make them perfect for the event.

Keeping a similar theme for my beauty look, I went with something sleek and unfussy—a slicked back hairstyle and warm, glowy makeup seemed just the right vibe to complement my ensemble.

The night itself was as luxe as it comes. Being able to attend a special dinner surrounded by artwork, all glammed up and mingling with the likes of Poppy Delevingne at my table was such a wonderful way to spend an evening. It’s definitely an event that I hope I’ll be lucky enough to attend again in the near future.
