The basket bag trend has been around for awhile now but this season, it’s certainly cementing itself as the bag to have. As far as accessories go it’s certainly made for an Aussie summer. It’s lightweight, it has a relaxed look and feel and it adds a bit of lovely texture to resortwear. I have a few different basket bags in my collection, ranging from small top handle bags to a roomy Loewe bag (see above) which has been everywhere with me from the beach to holidays and each has become an integral part of my summer wardrobe.
I think the appeal in a basket bag is that it is quite versatile; you can totally get away with wearing a basket bag to a nice lunch or dinner while carrying it with you to a day of running errands or grabbing coffee. Personally, I like its perpetual holiday feel, there’s something about the earthy texture of a basket bag that instantly transports me to being on a summer getaway. And who doesn’t want to feel like they’re on holiday all the time?
Having spent some time looking for a new basket bag to add to my new collection, I’ve come across some really great pieces that I just had to share. They’re all at various price points and in different styles. There are a few that are the traditional basket bag silhouette like the Loewe bag above and some slightly slouchier styles that are perfect for toting around your essentials to the beach. I’ve also rounded up some smaller styles which would make a great addition to a summer outfit for a dressier occasion. The fact is, you’d be hard pressed not to find one to suit every wardrobe!
