A simple hair clip is all you need to update your look

7th March, 2019

For fans of the simple beauty update that is a silk scarf, you’ll be pleased to hear that there’s an equally as easy to do hair accessory this season. The hair clip is officially back and this incarnation is a bit more adornment, rather than just a means to keep your hair back so there’s lots of pretty options to try. From pearls to jewels and an array of different colours to choose from, this is the time to add a bit of bling to your look and as an added bonus, have perfectly coiffed hair in the process.

The look is all over Instagram as a quick scroll will show, with everyone from bloggers to Go-To Skin founder Zoe Foster Blake and Mode Sportif’s Deborah Symond O’Neil sporting the look. And the best thing is that you can dip your toe into this trend with just a subtle clip or slide or you can go all out and embrace an ornate piece that will elevate any look easily.

BEAUTY TREND: PARISIAN LOOK

18th April, 2013

The Parisian Look

It’s all about shine when it comes to lips this season! Makeup artist Monika Bunic explains how to find the right shade and achieve the Parisian look.

We are seeing a lot of brights coming through for summer, how can we interpret this trend into our make up?

Playing with colour is the most exciting part of makeup and the quickest way to really add a pop of colour to your look is with a great lip shade. We’ve moved on from the Matt Finish lipstick and this season is all about the shine. For today’s look we used shade 6 from the new Rouge Volupte Shine collection by YSL, a signature look that strikes the perfect balance between bold colour and feminine shine.

How do we find the best bold shade to suit our personal complexion?

Yves Saint Laurent has three DNA colours that stem from our couture heritage – Rouge, Fuchsia and Orange. Across our 70 colour lip range there really is a shade variation of each signature colour to suit every complexion.

The latest twist on the statement lip craze is a brighter fuchsia hue. To get the look apply YSL Dessin des Levres lip liner first and then Rouge Pur Couture shade number 7.

TIP

To create the illusion of a fuller pout line the cupid bow above the lip with your Touche Éclat highlighting pen and blend gently with the tip of your index finger.
