It’s time to update your autumn/winter wardrobe with a cardigan

19th April, 2023

When temperatures drop, there’s nothing I like more than grabbing my cosiest winter woolies to snuggle up in. I’m all about a chunky knit or a gorgeous rollneck jumper, but this season I’m going to be reaching a lot for the humble cardigan. While the cardi has been around for aeons, it hasn’t always been the trendiest of knitwear staples. But expect all that to change as we gravitate towards this quiet achiever in the knits department.

Every winter I always update my wardrobe with some knitwear as I inevitably find some pieces need retiring (they either end up with holes, too much pilling, or they’ve become mishapen). So I tend to snap up 1 or 2 new knits to add to my collection and update my winter look. This season it’s definitely all about a cardigan with a more cropped silhouette.

While there is something to be said for the longline cardi’s role as the perfect cosy piece to relax in and pair with loungewear, for an updated take on the style, definitely look towards something that hits around the waist. This length is worn best with a pair of jeans, or tucked into wide leg pants. Also, ensure you wear it with at least a few buttons done up for a more of-the-moment take on it. The great thing about cardigans is while the silhouette generally remains the same, there’s definitely plenty to choose from when it comes to colours and detailing. I loved this sweet mint cardi with embroidered rosettes for its whimsical feel, plus it works well against structured denim for balance.

So, while you’re on the hunt for some new additions to your winter wardrobe, why not add a new cardi to the mix. It’s the perfect way to update your wardrobe, plus it works great as a transeasonal piece when we head into spring in the second half of the year. Ready to shop? The fresh winter outfit combination that’s so easy to do

14th July, 2022

Winter brings with it so many different outfit combination options but one of my current faves is so easy, wearable and a great outfit formula to have on hand when you just can’t bear to think about what winter warmers you’re going to put on again.

Of course, I’m talking about the foolproof ensemble of a cardi and jeans. Yes, no longer is the cardigan something that is relegated for popping on when you’re pottering around the house or a quick easy throw on piece, it’s now a bonafide fashion staple. While it remains ever so effortless, its current incarnation does look ridiculously cute.

Step one in putting this outfit together is make sure you’ve got the right kind of cardi. You want something cropped or something that just sits at the waist, this gives you the option of wearing it as is, or tucking it in — both work well. After that the sky’s the limit. Go for big, bold colours, loads of embellishments or an elegant neutral, either way all options are ideal.

As far as denim goes, there’s really no way to go wrong with this one. I usually opt for a high waisted pair in a slim or straight cut. Blue, black, white… the wash is up to you. But I do have a soft spot for a crisp white denim worked back with a colourful cardi. It looks modern and fresh.

So, if you’re looking for your next winter outfit formula to add on high rotation, this is most definitely it. It’s perfect for keeping you cosy, it’s a great alternative to the ol’ jumper and jeans combination you’ve no doubt been wearing on repeat, and it looks ultra polished too. Win-win.

Cosy cardis that are made for snuggling up in

26th June, 2020

Winter is all about dressing in your cosiest, softest clothes and without a doubt a cardigan is at the top of this list. The beautiful thing about cardigans is that they can be incorporated into your casual wardrobe, dressing up a pair of jeans and a tee, or alternatively they can seamlessly work into your favourite loungewear look. The best thing is that they’re so warm, comfy and cosy and are just made for chilly winter days.

Cardigans come in such a great range of different styles, cuts and colours that it’s easy to find one that will fit with most of your go-to looks. It’s fun to experiment with bright bold colours like pink and yellow to liven up a look but neutrals are equally as important. Stock up on colours like navy, black, grey, tan and cream and you can easily incorporate them with most of your wardrobe with minimal fuss.

So, if you’re looking to get a comfy, cosy look happening look no further than the below pieces. Happy shopping!
