Fashion, What I Wore

What I wore this week

12th January, 2023

School holidays has me rocking more casual looks this week and it’s been great to be able to explore that side of my wardrobe a little more. Looking after two little girls, it’s mostly been about comfort interspersed with the occasional dressy look. That said, one pattern does seem to be emerging… a matching set can’t be beat. Whether it’s a shirt and shorts combination, a skirt and button down, or a crop and skirt, a co-ordinating set is definitely a great shortcut to looking polished without much effort. So, here are a few of my faves…

Brights are definitely on trend this season and this orange Kinney has been a tried and tested mood booster. A vibrant hue is always a great option for summer, plus it makes a statement. My white Gucci slides added a neutral touch and allowed the colour to shine.

I love this skirt and crop set by Seed Heritage. It’s so beautifully feminine, but the neutral hue helps to ground it and keeps it from looking too saccharine. This is a great polished look for an event. Also, each works well as separates.

Denim is always a failsafe option no matter the occasion. This shirt and shorts set is a great casual go-to and it’s perfect for wearing as separates too. These comfy Camilla and Marc slides have been a fun addition to my wardrobe and add a statement feature to a simple look. I went with a roomy Dior tote on this day, which served the practical purpose of holding all my essentials, but also added a statement pop of colour.

Oroton’s ready-to-wear range is seriously on point this season, with lots of fun pieces to embrace. This colourful printed set is the perfect resortwear look, and if you’re off on holiday, definitely consider it. I also went with a white Oroton mini bag and white sandals to add an extra touch of freshness to this ensemble.

10 things worth checking out from…Country Road

31st January, 2019

With so much shopping to do and so little time it can be hard to keep track of what’s going on with each brand. So each month I’m doing a round up of my top picks from some of my favourite designer and high street brands. This month it’s all about Aussie fave, Country Road.

Drape sleeve dress

A classic silhouette but in a modern, on trend shade that’s made for summer.

Adeline organic stud

I love these chic drop earrings as a way of elevating an everyday look.

Rib nylon vest

A great addition to any little boy’s wardrobe. This is perfect for when we start heading into trans-seasonal weather.

Country Road do some gorgeous homewares and this duck egg blue number will be the highlight of any table.

Natural textures are all the rage and this pouch is the ideal accessory to finish off an outfit.https://katewaterhouse.com/formula-great-outfit/

Have a little one heading to pre-school? This is the ideal size for them to be able to carry their day’s essentials.

Floral lace dress

I love Country Road’s kids’ range especially their selection of girls’ clothes. This rose-coloured dress is so sweet and I love the print and ruffled detail.

Longline single breasted jacket

A blazer is always a necessity in any wardrobe and this one in a crisp white is ideal for summer.

Viscose silk t-shirt

The simple design and array of colours of this silk top make it the ideal piece to add to your work wardrobe.

These linen wedges are the ideal colour way for spring/summer and a comfy option for casual event dressing.

What I Wore: Check Mate

kate waterhouse australian open style country road outfit

Every year, I love heading down to Melbourne to check out the Australian Open. The atmosphere is a lot of fun and there’s always plenty to see and do. This year, I was invited by Country Road to check out the tennis so what better opportunity to rock an outfit from their new season collection to head courtside. I love gingham prints so this wrap skirt with subtle split was a comfortable and stylish option for the day. I paired it with a classic white crew neck tee, whose simple, streamlined design worked perfectly with the busy print of the skirt and is the kind of versatile style staple that post-event can work with the rest of my wardrobe. I kept to a blue colour palette with the rest of my ensemble, opting to pair it with my navy top handle Bulgari bag and cat-eye sunglasses with mirrored lenses. It was the ideal understated look for a casual day out.

The baby clothing brands I love as a mum

12th March, 2015

sapling

Now that I have two wardrobes to look after (mine and Sophia’s!) I’ve managed to find a few baby go-to fashion brands that I love. Much like I have my fave brands for particular styles, I have some brands that I consistently turn to when I’m pulling together outfits for Sophia. It’s often more fun to go shopping for her – the clothes are just so ridiculously cute! Here’s what’s at the top of my list:

Sapling Child

This was featured on my list of fave online stores because not only do they do great clothes, they also do everything in organic fabrics.

Purebaby

I’m a big fan of buying organic clothing and Purebaby has a really great range of cute organic clothes. Often the hard part is just trying to narrow down the list of items I want to buy!

Bonds

What mum doesn’t love Bonds? As far as basics go, I can’t go past this Aussie brand. Since Sophia tends to outgrow things quite quickly it’s nice to be able to grab a few key basic items at a reasonable price.

Other favourite’s include: Country Road, Marquise, Cotton On Kids, Kym T shoes, Jacadi Paris & Seed Heritage.

What are your fave baby brands? Is there one I should definitely add to my list?
