Christmas is almost upon us and there’s nothing better than a little festive dressing, accessorised with a whole lot of sparkle. I’ve been privileged to work with French jewellery brand Chaumet this year, and one of the perks of the job is definitely being able to wear such beautiful pieces. Given it’s the time of year for dialling up the glam, I wanted to wear something fun so opted for a sleek black suit with feathered trim, finished off with a few of my favourite pieces from Chaumet.
I’ve always been a fan of layering accessories and Chaumet’s Links range is perfect for this. I’ve worn this range to a few different events and I’ve always loved the modern design. The Harmony Link necklaces are available in a range of different lengths, and different pendant colours which make them the ideal pieces to stack. You don’t want to create a concentrated cluster when layering necklaces, rather a graduating effect. I think it’s important to choose one area to accentuate (I do this with clothes too) and in this instance I wanted it to be my decolletage given I was working with a deep V neckline. You can create such a dramatic effect by stacking delicate necklaces, the whole effect is modern and bold, and it doesn’t feel to heavy or done.
My other rule when it comes to layering jewellery is to balance the pieces you choose to pair together. So if you’re creating a necklace vignette, then pare it back a little more when it comes to your choice of earrings, rings and bracelets to enable the necklaces to shine. I adopted this approach for this particular look, with the simple Links Games studs, and a few streamlined rings — nothing too big in size like cocktail ring. I then opted for the Links Game bracelet and bangle, both have a similar aesthetic to the Harmony Link necklaces, and are also quite delicate which enabled me to stack them without it looking too over the top. It’s important to keep in mind proportions and size when you’re working with jewellery as you don’t want to look unbalanced. You want to wear the jewellery, not have it wearing you!
Christmas time is always the perfect excuse to get dressed up and go all out when it comes to your outfits. It’s definitely one of my favourite times of year when it comes to styling looks as everyone just seems to be a little more extra in their approach to dressing. This certainly applies to jewellery, and who wouldn’t want a little extra Christmas sparkle?
