What I Wore: All in one

14th March, 2017

Now that it’s officially autumn it’s time for trans-seasonal dressing which can often involve having to dress for weather that’s neither summer-y hot or winter-y cold. My failsafe solution to this weather dilemma is often to layer. This ensemble from Life with Bird’s latest collection allowed me to take separate pieces and work them together to create a look that’s easily adaptable to changing or dipping temperatures. I paired a long sleeve top with an A-line skirt but popped a cropped jacket over the top to give myself a little extra warmth. I often like to formulate a look using similar shades for an outfit that’s cohesive in that it stays within the same colour family but still packs a punch in its uniform appearance. I popped on a pair of black heels with a crossover strap to dress up the ensemble and provide a contrast of colour. This look could easily take me to a work event or meeting without missing a style beat.

What I Wore: Getting Cosy

2nd June, 2016

IMG_4739Temperatures how really dropped of late so it’s now time to officially pull out all my cosy winter gear. This great cardigan by Life with Bird is the ideal go-to piece to throw on over a tee, and the black and white grid pattern gives it a great point of difference. I searched high and low for a pair of jeans that would easily transition from day to night and this pair by Camilla and Marc is the perfect shade of blue to be a bit of a wardrobe chameleon; it can easily work for a variety of different looks. My Preen sunglasses have been on high rotation of late because they’re so versatile and I love that the cat-eye detail gives them a bit of a vintage feel. I’ve teamed this look with my Proenza Schouler clutch and Aquazurra heels to give it a dressier feel but if could easily be dressed down with a pair of sneakers and a tote for casual weekend wear.

What I Wore: Light and Shade

KW AKMAL SAKE-2

Monochrome is always a winning combination. Prints can be tricky to work with at times but when in black and white it simplifies the look and provides an anchor point for the rest of your outfit. I kept this look quite subdued with black accessories but you could always choose to make a statement and add a pop of colour instead. I loved the bare back of this dress and when worn with a plain bralette it’s more edgy than risque.
