What I Wore: Barbiecore

31st January, 2023

If there’s one colour that’s well and truly having a moment it’s pink. With Valentino sending an entire collection devoted to the colour down the runway and the upcoming Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie on the horizon, it’s definitely one hue to have on your radar. So, I decided to embrace some pink with this look and go full Barbiecore. This dress by Saba is a funĀ  shade of flamingo pink. It’s playful and feminine and perfect for summer. The empire line and the lightweight linen also make it the ideal comfy dress for chilling out in the sun, while still being dressy enough to look polished.

Continuing the pink theme (because if you’re going to channel Barbie, then you have to commit!), I went with a pair of Mach and Mach heels which are a true statement heel. There’s nothing shy or retiring about them. Clear pink PVC, with a wraparound pearl strap, it’s definitely the kind of shoe that draws attention. I love having the occasional bag in an unexpected, not at all practical colour because I think it’s sometimes fun to go a little bit daring when it comes to accessories. I’ve had this metallic pink Bulgari bag for years, and it’s had so much use. I often use it to add an accent piece to an outfit, and in this instance, it was the perfect hue to work with an all pink ensemble.

Fashion, What I Wore

What I wore this week

18th August, 2022

Sunny days in Sydney this week so I was able to pull out a few pieces that are a little more suitable to warm weather. I’ve had a mixed week of meetings/events and working from home so I was able to embrace a variety of different looks from jeans and a shirt to a polished matching set. It’s always nice to be able to utilise the full spectrum of my wardrobe and makes it much more fun to put looks together for the days ahead. Here’s what I wore this week.

Sunshine yellow for a sunny few days. I’m really loving ribbed textures of late, along with casual knit pieces and Anna Quan does both really well. This top and skirt always put me in a good mood simply because of the vibrant colour. It’s also ultra comfy which is a plus. I went for mesh Bottega Veneta heels to keep the rest of my look from competing with the vibrancy of the set.

You can’t go wrong with an Aje dress. This white dress is so versatile and I can dress it up or down and it works equally as well. I wore this to an event so I decided to dress things up with my accessories. This pink metallic Bottega bag added a splash of colour, while the Mach and Mach pearl heels added the right amount of glam. Also, I think when you’re working with a dress that’s quite beautifully pared back, you have to take things up a notch with a statement shoe.

This was a casual day at home working so I wanted to stay comfy, yet still ready to pop out to do school pick up and drop off and run some errands. I always tend to favour jeans whenever I’m off duty as it’s so easy, and a no-brainer to style. A simple white tank and a khaki button down added some casual polish, and my ever faithful Gucci slides helped finish off the entire look.

Wearing a punchy pink helped to energise me for an event. I’ve always been a fan of a denim dress, but I think the colour gives it a nice point of difference. I’ve been really loving boots of late, and have managed to really put these neutral Seed boots to good use this winter. A simple look, yet impactful thanks to a little colour play.
