What I Wore: A Touch of Romance

7th March, 2023

Party ensembles are always one of the most enjoyable looks to style because I can always take it in so many different directions. I recently attended the launch of Romance was Born’s collaboration artist Paul Yore, and in keeping with the brand’s aesthetic it was all about vibrant colours and bold prints. I’ve always loved the playfulness of Romance was Born’s designs and this dress had the ideal celebratory vibe to it. The A-line slip dress has a very 90s feel to it, giving it a very of the moment feel while the colourful feather trim makes a statement.

A party dress such as this definitely has to take centre stage, so I knew my accessories had to be simple and understated. Simple two-strap Giuseppe Zanotti sandals were the ideal pared back option, however they feature a crystal heel for a touch of boldness. These Isabel Marant crystal encrusted earrings added a touch of glam to this look and worked well as the perfect contrast against the simplicity of the dress.

Australian Fashion Week 2017 Day Five Wrap Up

18th May, 2017

The Shows: Ten Pieces, Romance Was Born

Where: Onsite at Carriageworks for Romance Was Born; Offsite at Bondi Icebergs for Ten Pieces

My day started… at 8am, getting ready and making way to Bondi Beach where Ten Pieces showcased its collection at Icebergs.

My outfit today… was all about monochrome. I wanted a look that was sleek and sophisticated.

Favourite show… Romance was Born. I loved the theatre of it.

Big trends I saw… relaxed, casual, slouchy and bold styling at Ten Pieces. At Romance Was Born it was about really dramatic looks with a lots of sheer fabrics with exaggerated silhouettes along with pastels mixed with an 80s palette of deep blues and bright green sequins as well as fringing and lots of shimmer.

What I ate/drank… I stopped for lunch with actress Marta Dusseldorp at Cubby’s Kitchen in Surry Hills to interview her for a Date with Kate column. We went for a light meal of salad and assorted dips.
