What I Wore: Royal Ascot Day Three

20th June, 2022

It was my last day attending Royal Ascot and rather fittingly it was Ladies’ Day so I went all out and embraced a thoroughly feminine look. The summer weather called for something bright and bold, so this pastel blue dress by Rachel Gilbert was the perfect fit. What drew me to this dress is that it has a lovely softness to it, with the puffed sleeves and texture fabric, but the corset design gives it a bit of edge to avoid it becoming to saccharine. Also I do love dresses that also give consideration to the back design and in this instance the keyhole feature achieves a striking finish. While this straw boater was the ideal choice for Ladies’ Day with the cluster of florals peeking out from beneath the brim. It adds a prettiness to the look, but the boater silhouette still gives it some structure.

One of my favourite things about pulling together racewear is considering my jewellery options for my look. I was thoroughly spoilt for choice in this instance, as having been lucky enough to work with French jewellery house Chaumet for the last few years, I was able to select a few pieces from their collection to wear with this look. I opted for a few elements from the Josephine collection, which was inspired by the Empress Josephine. Each piece is designed to layer beautifully and features signature elements such as the aigrette and pear cut shape which are woven throughout the collection. I love the fact these pieces are so elegant and have a graceful feel to them, making them the perfect accoutrements for an event such as Royal Ascot.

What I Wore: Royal Ascot Day One

16th June, 2022

I’m in London attending Royal Ascot and as far as racing events go, you really have to bring your A-game when it comes to what you wear. Given it’s often attended by royalty, and the dress codes are quite strict, I definitely had to make sure that the outfits I’m wearing over the three days I’m attending are up to Royal Ascot standard!

For day one, I went for a demure, ladylike outfit all anchored by some beautiful Gucci pieces. I worked with stylist Jess Pecoraro to help pull this look together and it was all about this pleated cream skirt (below the knee of course!) worked back with a polished silk blouse. I went for a bold blazer, with statement shoulders and chain link to really tie this outfit together. While a classic pair of black Mary Jane style pumps added another feminine touch. I liked that the overall vibe was elegant without being too over the top and it shows the beauty in embracing simple pieces but working them together to create an outfit that still has presence and impact.

As far as accessories go, it was all about elegance and simplicity—but with some subtle statement making elements woven in. This gorgeous Nerida Winter raffia headpiece with veil added a dramatic touch yet the raffia fabric kept it understated. While a simple monogrammed bar clutch by Gucci added a gilded element and just a touch of glam.
