What I Wore: RSVP

6th October, 2022

Planning looks for events are always one of my favourite things because you have so much breadth to explore different styles. These days a sleek black suit works just as well as a vibrant evening gown when attending a special occasion so I always love that I can tailor it according to my mood. That said, event looks can often be quite expensive and when you’re wanting to make a splash but not break the budget, it can be tricky. So, I was thrilled to be able to try out Sheike’s limited edition event wear collection called RSVP. The price range is quite reasonable and there are so many options to choose from, from a colourful lurex maxi to a foiled silver skirt. Everything is chic, on trend and designed to be party-ready! I loved the various styles in the range but I immediately fell in love with this monochrome evening gown. The wrap effect with the subtle side slit, plus the voluminous contrasting off-the-shoulder neckline is simply stunning and is destined for a black tie occasion.

A dress like this shouldn’t have too many competing factors as I didn’t want to take away from the wow factor of the neckline, so I kept to simple accessories. A tiny Miu Miu clutch bag made for the ideal diminutive companion for such a statement-making dress, while chandelier earrings added a touch of glam and a bit of glitz. When working with an event dress, I think it pays to be really considered in what you pair it with as often that’s what can be the glue that holds everything together, or in this case the accoutrements that can let a dress shine.
