What’s on my shopping wish list this month

12th January, 2018

At the start of a new year I like to take stock of my closet and strategise what new additions I might make. Usually I’ll look at what’s currently on trend along with any gaps I have in my wardrobe and pinpoint a few things to purchase from there. Shopping for summer is always fun as the relaxed vibe of the season means it’s a good opportunity to invest in some bold and playful pieces along with standout accessories. Here’s what I have my eye on this month…

Valentino Free Rockstud Leather slides

Valentino’s Rockstud heels and flats are a signature style of the brand and now they’re taking it into summer footwear territory with these slides. The navy and white colour combination feels perfect for this time of year and the studs are an edgy touch.

Cult Gaia Luna acrylic shoulder bag

Circular bags are a huge trend and this one looks like a work of art that you can carry on your shoulder. The beaded strap is able to be detached allowing for plenty of versatility.

Jerome Dreyfus Hector leather tote

This one stood out to me because of its departure from the shape of a traditional tote. The round style looks modern whilst its beautiful tan colour makes it a versatile classic.

Zimmermann Lumino asymmetric linen midi dress

Linen dresses are a welcome trend this season due to their relaxed vibe and the added bonus that they require minimal effort on the ironing front. The sunny yellow of this Zimmermann frock caught my eye as it’s so perfect right now. Bold stripes and sweet ruffled details meet to great effect, making for a great go-to dress.

MDS striped cotton jersey top

This top is quite high on the adorable scale with its tie straps and gathered finish. Perfect with everything from a denim skirt to tailored shorts, it’s made for enjoying sunny days.

MDS striped cotton jersey wide leg pants

I couldn’t resist the matching pants to the above top! How cute do they look as a set?

Sam Edelman Rumi Dupion slippers

Simple pointed flats at a reasonable price—what’s not to love? They’re also a great colour that will really work back with a huge chunk of my wardrobe.

Freda Banana Tara faux-pearl embellished glasses

Statement sunglasses are the ideal accessory to lift an outfit and this pair, with its faux-pearl embellishment really makes for a fun addition to any look.

Milana twisted paper medium brim

I’m a firm believer in staying safe in the sun and this hat fits the bill. As a bonus they’re also on sale.

Annie Costello Brown gold halle earrings

I can envisage these architectural earrings making a stylish addition to myriad outfits and they’ll definitely be able to transition into next season, allowing me to get maximum cost per wear.

C&M Camilla and Marc Montaine dress

Breezy dresses are one of my favourite things during the warmer months and this mini dress with its tie detail will most certainly get more than a few outings for the remainder of the season.

Easy ways to update your summer wardrobe

27th December, 2017

If you’re feeling less than inspired with your current summer wardrobe it’s time to employ a few styling tricks to inject a bit of life into your new season looks. You don’t have to rush out and buy entirely new looks either—you can rework existing pieces you currently own and make them feel current with the addition of a few on trend items. Here are a few ways to hit refresh…

Standout accessories

This is the easiest shortcut to a new look by far. A pair of statement earrings, a gold medallion or a pair of bold sunglasses are all simple ways to elevate a look, using what you already own.

Lightweight linen

If there’s one look that’s currently ramping up in popularity it’s anything in lightweight linen. Matching separates, a slip dress or wrap skirts all look great in this perfect for summer fabrication as it’s guaranteed to stay cool on sweltering hot days.

Natural textures

Bags in natural textures scream resort wear and are the ideal accessory for the next few months. And there are so many fun incarnations. From a straw bag with fun pom pom details or a structured raffia clutch, going au naturel is just the thing to bring your summer look into the now.

White on white

A crisp white on white is the ideal look for the season. A winning combination is a white skirt and tee for an off duty ensemble that feels fresh and new.

Add a scarf

The vintage print scarf is the versatile piece your summer wardrobe definitely needs. Tie it around your hair or wear it as a headband, pop it around your neck old-school movie star style or even just tie it to your bag to add some pep to it. Either way you’re set with one super easy addition to your wardrobe.

Pop on a graphic tee

The graphic tee is one of the enduring trends of 2017 and it looks like it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Whether it’s a cute phrase, a designer logo or quirky print, there’s no better time to go loud and proud on a t-shirt. This piece works perfectly with denim and definitely tucked in for the most on-trend way to style it.

What’s on my summer shopping list

23rd November, 2016

Summer is always one of my favourite seasons to shop for and after checking out what trends have been popping up in the Northern Hemisphere over the last few months I’ve been getting more excited to start pulling together my shopping list. Here’s what I’ve got my eye on…

Loren Stewart necklace: A lot of the necklines popular during summer require showing off the décolletage so I’ve been looking for a great minimalist necklace to complement the new pieces I’ll be adding to my wardrobe.

Lisa Marie Fernandez wrap bikini: A new bikini is one of the things I look forward to purchasing during summer and this navy bikini with its wrap detail is a chic option for wearing whilst sitting poolside.

Alexander Wang espadrilles: White sneakers and espadrilles are both big trends for summer and this is a really cute marriage of the two. I can imagine wearing this with flowy summer dresses.

Bassike striped dress: I like having dresses that I can easily throw on without too much fuss and this striped dress is a no-brainer. It’s perfect for when I need to get out the door fast (which I need to do a lot these days!)

Castillo beach towel: I frequent the beach often with my family so I can never have enough beach towels. I love the colourful mix of prints on this and it also has such a distinctive look that I’ll be able to spot it easily.

Ace of Something woven fedora: I’m a stickler for sun protection so I’ve been on the hunt for a great wide-brimmed floppy straw hat to wear to the beach. I love the leather cord around this particular style – it gives it a modern touch.

Ancient Greek sandals: Black and tan sandals are of course staples during summer but I wanted something a little more feminine and really liked these pastel pink, calf-hair sandals by Ancient Greek. Pink is also a surprisingly easy colour to wear and can almost be considered a neutral in this particular shade.

Le Specs round sunglasses: I wrote about my love of sunglasses earlier in the week so of course I’ve been on the look out for a cool new pair of sunnies to add to my collection. In a matte silver these are quite modern and with mirrored lenses they’re a great statement-making piece.

Anna October cold shoulder top: There’s nothing quite like a crisp white top to pair with a skirt or shorts during summer and I think the cold shoulder silhouette is a nice take on the off the shoulder trend. This is an easy option for days when I need to look dressed up with minimal fuss.

Melissa Odabashi beach dress: I’ve been looking for an easy cover-up for the beach and this is perfect. I like the navy shade and the subtle stripes and lace trim. I can see myself throwing this on over a bikini and heading off to lunch.

Maison Michel hemp straw hat: Whilst the floppy straw hat is perfect for the beach I wanted something I could wear whilst running around doing errands or heading out for the day and I think this has the right amount of polish.

Dolce & Gabbana crystal iPhone case: Summer’s for having fun, right? I love how colourful and vibrant this phone case is and it reminds me of being on holiday. Plus who doesn’t love a touch of D&G?

Dolce & Gabbana one-piece: I’ve been on the hunt for a great one-piece for awhile and when I saw the Sicilian print on this it sealed the deal for me as it reminds me holidaying in Italy. I think every girl needs a one-piece in her swimsuit wardrobe this summer.

Sarah’s bag Pacifico wooden clutch: Yes, it’s completely over the top and definitely not the type of clutch that you’d classify as a ‘classic’ but it’s so bright and fun how could I resist?

Lila Eugenie kaftan: I can see myself getting plenty of use out of this kaftan over many summers. I just love wearing white during summer as it’s so fresh. All it needs is a great bikini and a pretty pair of sandals and I’m set.
