Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: 2022 Oaks Day

3rd November, 2022

Oaks Day is traditionally always ladies’ day so the dress code is always quite feminine. I wanted to honour that but also embrace something that wasn’t overly soft, and had a bit more structure so this pink Versace suit fit the brief. I loved the kaleidoscope of pinks and how they provided bold contrast against each other. Also the texture of the tweed allowed the suit to pop. And who doesn’t love a power suit moment? The mini hemline is right on trend, while suiting is definitely one of my go-to event looks.

I opted for a contrasting colour shoe option, so I went with a pair of gold Jimmy Choo heels with a tassel detail. The pointed toe worked well to complement the more structured feel of the suit, while the tassels add a dramatic touch. The crystal top handle bag added another textural element while providing some contrast against the suit. As far as headwear went, I wanted to embrace a hat in this instance so I opted for an oversized black straw hat by Ezara J. As the final finishing touch, a beautiful Jaeger Le Coultre timepiece.

This moment at the Versace show will have you wanting to add a little gold to your life

23rd September, 2017

A post shared by VERSACE (@versace_official) on

Versace just won Milan Fashion Week with this major fashion reunion. At the Versace show, Donatella Versace brought the original 90s supermodels back together on the runway in a tribute to the 20th anniversary of the death of her late brother, fashion designer, Gianni Versace—and as you’d expect it was glorious. Say hello to Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen all resplendent in gold!

If this epic moment has ignited a little gold fever in you (and a slinky gown may not be the most practical of everyday wear) then you’ll be glad to know that it’s super easy to have your own time to shine with a little injection of easy-to-wear golden pieces into your wardrobe. And the thing with this metallic hue is that it’s surprisingly versatile. It’s bold enough to be the statement piece of any outfit but it can also act as a neutral in that it can easily be paired with myriad colours and outfits. And whether it’s jewellery or a pair of shoes it’s guaranteed to add a luxe touch to any ensemble no matter what you choose. And hey, if it’s good enough for the original supermodels it’s good enough for us.
