It’s the final day of MBFWA and Zambesi is set to hit the runway this afternoon. Here is an exclusive preview look, along with a Q&A on the inspirations behind the collection.
Zambesi Spring/Summer 13/14.
What was your inspiration behind the collection?
A sense of freedom bound by the idea of restraint.
What textures, patterns and materials were used?
Highlighting the collection is an in-house plaid design reworked in silk organza and cotton voile. Also integral to the collection is denim, which is taken in unexpected directions.
Tell me about the show and the inspiration behind it?
The show is always derived from the mood of a collection and this season the feeling is clean and contemporary.
What do you think are the major upcoming trends for spring/summer?
At Zambesi we are inspired by an intuitive sense of style. We aim to develop our collections with the intention of providing unique pieces with a sense of freedom from trends.
What is your favourite fashion week memory?
Our first international individual show in Sydney,1997. It was a great success and an incredible highlight was meeting Anna Piaggi.
What is next in the pipeline after MBFWA wraps?
Zambesi Winter 2014!
