9 shops at Sydney airport that are worth arriving early for

1st November, 2019
Arriving at Sydney airport fashionably early!

Today I flew down to Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup Carnival with the whole family. It’s a nine day stay so the girls and Luke always come along and we make it a little mini break. Even though it’s a domestic flight we always make a point of getting there early to check our luggage in as we have several bags due to all the events we have to attend over the coming days and that means outfits aplenty. It’s also the perfect time to fit in a bit of shopping. The range of shops at Sydney’s domestic airport has really expanded and I can now check out a few of my fave brands while we wait for our flight. I’m usually busy with work and looking after the girls so I’m not able to peruse stores as much as I used to, so I savour any opportunity I’m able to do so. Here are a few of my favourite spots to visit.

SO many gorgeous options at Furla

Furla

This store has just opened recently and it’s a great spot to pick up something special. I love their range of bags and always inevitably end up trying a few different pieces, particularly if I’m off to an event at my destination.

Oroton

They’ve always done beautiful accessories but I’m also really loving Oroton’s ready-to-wear range. There’s a number of beautiful summery pieces in their range featuring lots of great linen separates and easy breezy dresses so I bookmarked a visit to the store especially so I could try a few things on. I also wanted a new bag to take to Melbourne during spring carnival and ended up picking up something from the new collection.

Camilla

If you’re heading somewhere warm and are in need of something gorgeous to wear poolside or at the beach Camilla’s definitely one stop you have to make. I often go in there to check out the amazing swimwear and kaftans so I can pick up something for the warm weather ahead.

M.A.C Cosmetics

I always end up buying makeup whenever I’m in transit because I can never resist popping into the M.A.C store. I love the brand’s brow gel and eye shadow so it’s the perfect time to stock up.

Seed

Whether it’s for myself or for the girls, a visit to Seed is a must. The airport location has got a great range and I often spend a fair bit of time checking out what’s currently in store, particularly when it comes to the kids’ range.

Witchery

Witchery is one of my fave Aussie chain stores and I don’t get to visit nearly enough so I always pop in to see their current season drop. They’ve got some great event-appropriate pieces of late, and I always end up finding something that I want to wear. I’ve had my eye on a few things and ended up buying some new pieces for a number of my racing commitments over the next few days.

Watermark Books & Cafe

It’s always so fun checking out a book shop in the airport and it’s even better when there’s a cafe involved. I’ll often grab a coffee and just check out all the new releases for myself or pick up a book or two for Grace and Sophia.

Blue Illusion

You wouldn’t expect to be able to buy homewares at the airport but Blue Illusion do some great French inspired decor. They also stock clothing and accessories so it’s a great all round experience.

Newslink

Yes I’m a fan of visiting the newsagent! I always make a point of stopping by to pick up things like a mints or gum or a sweet treat for the flight, and while I’m there I’ll pick up a magazine or some reading material or activity that the girls can do to keep them occupied on the plane.
