Fashion, What I Wore

Max Mara x The Woolmark Company

17th June, 2017

When it comes to my wardrobe I put a premium on buying pieces made from quality fabrics—they last longer and are able to stand up to everyday wear and tear. It’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of homegrown Australian merino wool because not only does it have increased softness and warmth it also resists wrinkles (a definite time-saver!). I already incorporate Merino wool quite heavily into my winter wardrobe so I was excited to hear that The Woolmark Company have collaborated with Italian label, Max Mara on its Autumn/Winter 17 range. Several of the pieces are made from 100 per cent Wool Denim fabrics which replicates the look and feel of traditional denim but incorporates all the benefits of wool. Essentially this has merged two fabrics which are in quite heavy rotation in my wardrobe so I was quite eager to view the collection and was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to do so.

Upon previewing the range I fell in love with this pants suit and tunic. Suiting is a major trend this season and when crafted in a Wool Denim fabric it elevates a classic staple into something modern by incorporating a touch of denim. When paired with simple accessories it keeps the look sleek and chic and is so perfect for everything from a meeting to an event. Meanwhile the tunic is the ideal year-round piece as not only is it comfortable enough for a busy day of back to back engagements it can easily transition from season to season with a simple change in accessories. The merging of Merino wool and denim has made both pieces unbelievably soft and warm which makes it perfect for getting me through the cooler months and I have to say that I’m excited that I don’t have to go anywhere near an iron to keep them looking pristine. A win-win.

To celebrate the collaboration between Max Mara and The Woolmark Company, the two brands have planned a global roadshow starting from Milan to key cities across the world. You can view the collection in Sydney at Westfield’s Max Mara store on June 20th.
