My picks from the Afterpay Day Sale

18th August, 2023

It’s Afterpay Day again! With plenty of discounts on offer, now is the time to take advantage of the various sales going on and snap up something you’ve had your eye on. I’ve done the rounds and so many of my fave brands are on sale, such as Aje, P.E Nation, Dion Lee, Manning Cartell… the list goes on. Sale time is the perfect opportunity to snap up the more expensive splurge items you have had your eye on. In particular, if you’ve been looking around for an outfit for an event, or if you’ve been wanting to update your workout clothes, or a wardrobe staple such as a coat or blazer, now is your chance. Having scrolled a number of sites, I’ve seen so many amazing pieces, but these in particular are firmly cemented on my wish list. Happy shopping!

P.S. Be sure to share with me your best sale finds in the comments below.

Aje Valentina Strapless Bow Top

White shirts feature frequently in my wardrobe rotation so I love that this riffs on that but is oh-so feminine and flirty. There’s a softness in the lines of this top, but it’s also quite structured in parts which works together to create some drama. The off the shoulder neckline is perfect for spring, while the oversized bow makes a statement. The subtle puff at the sleeves is really sweet, while the flared hem makes it a great pairing with a tailored pant.

Aje Jessica Frill Midi Dress

I’ve lost count of how many great Aje dresses I’ve fallen in love with because without fail, there are several each season. I like that this is a classic Aje silhouette with the oversized puff sleeve and midi hemline because it’s a tried and tested formula for me. The finishing touches on this dress is what makes it with the collar, reminiscent of origami folds, and the gold shell buttons add a touch of whimsy.

Aje Hester Corseted Midi Dress

A black dress that is pared back enough to be versatile without being boring is no mean feat but Aje hits it out of the park with this. The corseted bodice adds some structure, which is then balanced by the soft blouson sleeve. Also, I do love a midi dress as they always look so polished and sophisticated.

P.E Nation Run Ramp Jacket

I love P.E Nation’s elevated athleisure pieces. This puffer jacket is the kind of piece that I could wear from a Pilates class and straight to lunch without missing a beat. The ribbed cuffs and hem give it some shape, and give it a more fashion edge.

P.E Nation Expedition Jacket

This is also a great alternative. The shape of this style is a little edgier and I could get away with wearing this with something other than activewear. I also appreciate the little design touches like the toggles on the hood and the branded zipper pull.

Alemais Lou Balloon Shirt Sleeve Dress

I adore Alemais for their hyper feminine silhouettes, everything is all about colour and prints and soft curves and flounces. This shirt dress is 100% linen so it’s perfect for transeasonal weather, plus the long blouson sleeves ensure that it is dressy enough to wear to an occasion. The matching belt is great as it cinches in the waist and creates some definition to counter all the volume. The pattern is also quite fun.

Alemais Eden Flounce Midi Dress

Show me a floral dress in yellow and I’m sold. The ankle length hem makes this perfect for an occasion that calls for something a little more formal such as a wedding, while the ruffles add a playful touch. The open back is also an unexpected statement feature which I love.

What I Wore: Australian Fashion Week 2023 Day 1

15th May, 2023

It’s the first day of Fashion Week today so I wanted to make a splash with my outfit choice and go for something bold. It’s of course the perfect time to embrace the numerous talented Australian designers out there, and today was all about this Alemais dress for me. I throughly loved the way this dress had a fluidity to it that gave it some beautiful movement. While the stunning brocade fabric added some drama and elegance. And let’s not forget about the bell sleeves! Such gorgeous draping really added some theatre to the way this dress moved, while the contrasting yellow fringing added a gorgeous finishing flourish.

So, how to accessorise a dress that’s already quite dramatic and theatrical? I wanted a shoe with an interesting silhouette and these Fendi shoes have been a longtime fave of mine. I love the wedge style ‘F’ heel and the metallic straps. I opted for a classic mini Jackie bag from Gucci to pair with this dress as it’s diminutive size and simple monogram print would complement rather than compete with the dress. Lastly, Fashion Week isn’t possible without a great pair of sunnies on hand at all times, and this caramel Bec & Bridge pair from their collaboration with Pared really fit the brief.

The Aussie brand you need this summer

7th November, 2022

Wearing an Alemais swimsuit in Italy

We’re truly spoilt for choice as far as fashion goes in Australia. With hot summers and an abundance of sunshine (well, when La Nina isn’t around) we’re in the perfect position to do spring/summer clothing like no other. I think the resortwear that comes out of the Australian fashion industry is the best in the world, so discovering new brands that do resort and do it well is always exciting.

If you’ve been following along on many an influencer’s European holiday (or any tropical holiday for that matter) there’s a high chance this brand would’ve featured in their rotation of outfits. Alemais, founded by former Zimmermann designer Lesleigh Jarmanus is an absolute visual delight. The prints are playful and fun, there’s vivid colours aplenty and the silhouettes are feminine and ethereal. I know I packed a few Alemais pieces on my recent Italian getaway and loved how each piece was comfortable and wearable (an important criteria when you’re living out of a suitcase) yet so vibrant. I love wearing prints and colour Alemais’ definitely design aesthetic is definitely one that speaks to me.

So, what can you expect with Alemais’ spring/summer offering? Expect plenty of prints and colour, with some dialling up the saturation in vivid greens and blues to slightly more muted pastels. With everything from midi dresses to matching sets and plenty of fun swimwear, Alemais is definitely the brand that should be high on your list this summer.

What I wore this week

4th February, 2022

It’s been a big week! My youngest daughter, Grace started school and there’s been a few things on the go on the work front. In between the busyness, I’ve had fun playing with some great looks, particularly bold, bright pieces that are perfect for the last month of summer, and some beautifully dainty and feminine pieces. Here’s what I wore this week.

A great blouse and jeans is one of my favourite outfit shortcuts. This embroidered Alemais blouse is always a playful option with denim, and these patent green heels add a nice splash of colour. This is further proof that if you find a good pair of jeans, you’re guaranteed to be able to create multiple looks.

There’s something about cheery colours that instantly lift my mood. This vibrant pink denim dress is just the right kind of hue to energise me for the day ahead—if I’m ever feeling flat, I always put on a bold colour and it instantly perks me up. I paired this with black Bottega Veneta heels and a pair of statement earrings to elevate it.

How cute is this cardigan? I love the sweet embroidery and the pastel mint combination. Wearing cardis as a top is one of my fave trends of late, and this one works well worn back with white jeans. I went for comfort in this instance with gold flats and another beautiful pastel hue, in the form of this mini baby pink Chanel bag.

I categorise jumpsuits in the same camp as dresses—an easy outfit option when you just can’t be bothered thinking of what to wear. I like the relaxed cut and high collar of this particular style, not to mention the statement sleeve. For the ultimate in comfort dressing, I wore these Proenza Schouler Birkenstocks, and my favourite Prada bucket bag, which is both practical and a chic option for daytime looks.

What I Wore This Week: Holiday Edition

21st January, 2022

As we near the end of summer holidays, I’ve been reminiscing about some of the looks I’ve worn over the past few weeks. From race days, to soaking up the sun poolside and spending time with my family, these are some of the outfits I’ve worn, and the fond memories I’ve created. There have been lots of opportunities to wear new brands that I’ve recently fallen in love with and champion Aussie brands I’ve long loved. Here’s what I wore: the holiday edition.

I’ve loved wearing this as a cover up for the pool because of the vibrant print and the oversized fit. This swimsuit is a favourite as I love the flattering cut and the bold rust hue. I’m never without a wide brimmed hat whenever I’m spending time in the sun and this Avenue hat is perfection—just the right shape and size, and I love the tie which keeps it in place.

Hanging out on the farm in this gorgeous set by Alemais. The unexpected colour combination of terracota with splashes of pink, coupled with the print make it a real statement look. It’s also unbelievably comfy which ticks so many boxes for me. I’ve spent the summer in these Proenza Schouler Birkenstocks and they just go with everything. Also another tick in the comfort box.

At the Magic Millions with my family. This white Dissh dress is a lightweight linen which is perfect for balmy days and the crisp white hue is always a winner in summer. I wore these with strappy heels by Aje and a top handle basket bag. I’m always a fan of anything white in summer as it instantly looks dressy and polished.

Here I am filming at Scanlan Theodore with Laura Dundovic for Channel 7. I love this aquamarine hue as it really pops! This form fitting dress is so great for summer, and could work in numerous settings from an elevated look for work to a polished ensemble for a long lunch. The shoes and bag are also by Scanlan Theodore which just further reinforces how many amazing things the brand currently has in store.
