What I Wore: Winter Magic

15th August, 2023

I recently shot a collaboration with Glasshouse Candles’ new Last Run in Aspen scent and it called for a wintery look that still had a lightness and brightness to it. I love wearing whites and creams during winter as I think everything generally tends to be quite heavy when it comes to traditional cool weather colours.

When it came time to put this outfit together I decided to brighten things up, working around a great pair of white Slvrlake Jeans. This Los Angeles based brand should definitely be on your radar when it comes to denim — I have a few different silhouettes from them and I wear them year round. This pair is a great high waisted style and is juuuust the right cropped length (I find some crops tend to be a tad too short or too long on me). Also the style is a great compromise between skinny jeans (I know, we’re not allowed to wear these anymore Gen Z!) and a straight leg pair.

I live in a rotation of various knits from Aussie brands throughout winter, and the one I’m wearing here is by Assembly Label. The Ava knit style features a drop shoulder which I’ve always found to be universally flattering and feels and looks very effortless. It’s also a great creamy colour that’s easily worked back with a number of different pants and skirts.

Lastly, I adore anything featuring shearling when it comes to footwear as it does double duty in keeping my feet toasty but also adding an element of interest. These chunky slides by Camilla and Marc are the best! They’re so comfy and the extra fluffy footbed means I can get away with wearing open shoes during winter, but I can also transition them to spring.

Fashion, What I Wore

What I wore this week

10th August, 2023

I know I’m well and truly back to the normal life post-holiday now as I’ve spent this past week running around in my fave off duty looks, playing catch up with life admin, work etc. Sydney has been giving some signs of an early spring with the warm days we’ve been having but for now, the temperatures have dipped slightly again so it’s back to layering again. It was one of those weeks where I relied on tried and tested pieces, some even got a repeat wear. When I’m having a busy week, it’s nice to know I have staples that will get me through with minimal fuss. Here’s what I wore this week.

White jeans are really having a moment and I’m a huge fan because of their sheer versatility. I have worn these white pants with so many things in my closet and I’m still coming up with new outfit combinations. I decided on a preppy vibe up top with a striped Bec and Bridge shirt and a cosy knit thrown over my shoulders. These DOF sneakers have been in my closet for several years and they’re still getting a regular workout. The sign of a good wardrobe addition!

This pic is from a few weeks back but I’d yet to post it and the outfit is such an easy go-to of mine that I wanted to share it. White jeans with the same sneakers, but layered with some classic neutral hues and shapes. A simple oversized knit from Assembly Label and a cosy Dissh coat (which I love for its clean lines – no buttons or belt loops to contend with) completed the outfit.

I decided to take advantage of the warm weather and throw on a dress to change things up a bit. Joslin make such gorgeous linen pieces and this design with its billowy sleeves and the pin-tucking at the front elevates this ultra comfy dress. I can’t get enough of Dad sandals and this pair from Chanel is such a great colour and a good alternative to the black version of this style.

You can’t go wrong with white and denim! It’s one of those forever stylish pairings that will see you through many an occasion. These Viktoria and Woods jeans are just the right level of baggy for my frame so I highly recommend a similar style (this one is an old style – so I’ve linked to another option) if you’re on the petite side. My DOF sneakers once again and a crisp white puffer jacket to round out the look.
