What I Wore: Classic Tweed

26th June, 2018

When I think of classic looks anything tweed is instantly top of mind. There’s something about it that’s so luxe and sophisticated. I couldn’t resist this set by Camilla & Marc mainly because I love that it straddles old world glamour with a distinctly modern vibe with the standout pattern, textural element and the longline cut feeling so contemporary. The gorgeous buttons are the ideal finishing detail and really elevate the look. Meanwhile the flared cropped pants add a playful touch and give this set and it’s suit-like silhouette a relaxed feel.

I wanted to ground the look with my choice of footwear so boots seemed the ideal fit. When it comes to pairing boots with a busy trouser, I think fitted sock style boots are the best option. The slim look works well with the flare detail and the pointed toe give it a little edge.

When it came to accessories for this outfit, I wanted to stick to black to complement the dark tones in the jacket and pants. My cat eye sunglasses added a on trend element, whilst my Chanel bag is one of my favourite go-tos when I want to punctuate a look with something I know is understated and always stylish.

What I Wore: Power Suit

27th March, 2018

I think every woman should own at least one great suit. There’s just something inherently commanding about wearing one. Whilst traditional suits in classic colours such as black and navy are great, especially when in a more corporate setting, I love being able to push the boundaries a little more given that I work in largely creative settings a lot of the time. This is why this Rebecca Vallance suit and I are a match made in heaven. The colour, the fit, the style are all a fashionable take on a long standing classic.

The double breasted jacket is one that’s had a serious resurgence over the last few years and is always such a flattering fit. When paired with wide leg suit pants it helps give a streamlined silhouette up top which is great for when you’re more on the petite side like me. The pale blue hue of the suit with contrasting gold buttons helps lift my overall look and gives it a more fashion forward edge.

I decided to pair this suit with simple black studded Alaïa heels and Chanel clutch to provide some contrast without being too overwhelming. I find plain black accessories are always a reliable go-to when you want an outfit to have a timeless feel. However I did want to have a little fun too! My Chloe round frame sunglasses, I think, are an unexpected finishing detail for such a classic look and help give it a modern touch.

What I Wore: Between the lines

6th February, 2018

During a recent trip to Melbourne I was in the mood to wear something quite feminine and bold so I ended up taking this Rebecca Vallance top and skirt combination with me. I love the nautical striped pattern on both, which gives a relaxed, resort wear vibe. The ruffled neckline and sleeve on the top give it a dramatic flair and gives the outfit a point of interest as the rest of the look is quite streamlined and simple. These were also the ideal pieces to take on a trip, as they’re able to be styled into two separate looks, giving me more options to choose from.

I wanted to dress this ensemble up a bit so I opted for my studded Alaïa heels, however I’ve found that it could work easily with a pair of sandals to give a slightly more casual feel.

My ever reliable Chanel bag always comes with me when I travel as it can go from a crossbody bag to a clutch quite easily, and in this instance it was the ideal bag to take to dinner. It’s small enough to carry my bits and pieces but not so big as to look cumbersome.

I never head out with a pair of sunglasses and for this outing, I wanted to stick to a classic black pair. However the charms on the sunglasses’ arms help give it a glam touch and is often a talking point as it’s such an unexpected detail.

Cute gym clothes that will make you want to work out

20th January, 2018

If one of your New Year’s resolutions involved doing more exercise, you’re in luck because there’s never been a better time to shop for gym clothes. The extensive range of prints, colours and styles available right now means there’s definitely something to suit all tastes and budgets. And let’s face it, sometimes there’s just no better motivator than the excuse to wear a cute outfit.

I’m all about a simple colour palette and often favour black, white and navy and I’ve extended this to my workout looks as it often makes it easier to mix and match different pieces. I’ll sometimes add a few subtle prints in the mix just to keep things fun and inject a bit of energy into my fitness wardrobe. Having made a resolution to incorporate more training into my schedule, I’ve been scouting around for the perfect pieces to exercise in, and these in particular have caught my eye…

PS by Paul Smith Basso trainer

Plain white sneakers are really versatile but who can resist a little graphic detail to elevate this style staple.

Chanel Vintage Sports Line duffle gym bag

I’ll preface this by saying this piece would be a complete and utter splurge but you’ve got to hand it to Chanel for turning a gym bag into a stylish carryall.

Nike Air Max Jewell sneakers

I love the blush shade of these sneakers and think they add a feminine touch to my gym kit.

The Upside Midnight Chop Short

Given the sweltering temperatures we’re experiencing at the moment, a pair of gym shorts are a must. The subtle coloured piping add a fashionable flair.

The Upside DJ Crew

I like the fact workout clothes nowadays could quite easily work with my regular wardrobe. With its kimono sleeves and logo feature, this top is right on trend.

Running Bare Ab Waisted Fight Club Full Length Tight

High waisted tights are great for providing support whilst working out but this pair is just that little bit extra due to the galactic print.

Fendi logo print performance t-shirt

Classic black with an understated logo this Fendi top takes workout tees to a new level. Made from mid weight stretch fabric and mesh panels, it’s the perfect marriage of form and function.

No Ka’Oi Ola performance bra

Major ticks for the striped elasticated detail on this sports bra. It lifts an all black piece and gives it a point of interest.

Puma Boyfriend tank

A white tank is always on high rotation for me and this one is the perfect shape and length.

What I Wore: Chanel at Marais

20th June, 2017
Kate Waterhouse Chanel at Marais boutique launch Melbourne balmain blazer bec and bridge chanel bag 8

I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the gorgeous new Chanel at Marais ephemeral boutique in Melbourne and of course, any event that involves such an stylish and iconic brand requires a sleek and chic evening look. I opted for a slinky satin Bec & Bridge dress with a thigh high split to bring a touch of glamour to my outfit. To help the champagne hue of the dress to take centre stage I paired it with black accessories—my Balmain blazer provided a structured counterpoint to the fluid nature of the dress and my Balenciaga ankle boots helped ground the ensemble. And what else to wear at the opening of Chanel at Marais than a piece from the label itself. I wore my favourite Chanel quilted bag to carry my essentials for the night and pay homage to the inimitable fashion house we were celebrating.
