What to buy the fashionista in your life

16th December, 2018

I’ve got a number of people in my life who love fashion so I’m always looking for the perfect, stylish gift to purchase them at this time of year. When it comes to the fashionista in your life I think the key things to consider before buying anything is their personal style, the pieces that you know they wear to death and what they’ll actually find useful — all three will help you hone in on the perfect piece. (If all else fails you could also just check out my guide on how to be a good gift giver which should steer you in the right direction.)

In the meantime I’ve rounded up a few faves to help get you started. You never know, you may just find the ideal gift for someone on your list.

What I’m hoping to find under the Christmas tree this year

16th December, 2017

I love shopping for my family and friends at Christmas but with all the browsing I do in trying to find the right gifts, I inevitably end up finding things to add to my own wish list. Whilst I’m just happy to be able to spend time with my loved ones, and most especially see my girls enjoying the day, I wouldn’t complain at all if any of these were waiting for me under the Christmas tree…

Gucci GG logo belt

I’m sure you’ve seen this belt doing the rounds and each time I see it I love it even more. It’s a classic style that I can work with jeans to dresses and skirts and  I would definitely wear it to death.

Elise Tsikis tassel-drop gold earrings

How cute are these? I am loving statement earrings at the moment and I particularly like the quirky feel of this pair. The tassels are super cute whilst the gold detail helps anchor them.

Solid and Striped swimsuit

I am always on the look out for a great swimsuit and this is the complete package. I love the colour, the cut and the retro feel of the belt.

Givenchy round-frame sunglasses

I’ve got a weak spot for sunglasses and am constantly looking for just the right piece to add to my collection. The round frames are very 60s but the gold detail at the bridge gives it a modern feel.

Lee Mathews V-neck denim dress

I don’t think any girl can ever have too many summer dresses. Big ticks for the lightweight denim and the ruffle and tie back detail on this dress.

See by Chloe platform sandals

After so many minimalist style heels of late I’m in the mood for something different. These platform sandals have a 70s silhouette that I love and it’s the perfect colour for summer.

Givenchy Antigona mini leather crossbody bag

The big mama version of this mini bag is a fave of mine so I couldn’t resist it in a downsized form. The metallic hue gives it a point of difference and the crossbody style is a great option for those days when I’m busy running around doing errands.

Gianvito Rossi satin-trimmed sandals

Black heels are classic but when topped with a feather detail I’m more than 100 per cent sold. These would be great for an event or a night out and would really be the talking point of an outfit.

Oroton Avalon soft fold wallet

New year, new wallet. Loving the colour of this and the pebbled leather. It also has lots of compartments which is perfect for carrying my numerous cards and bits and pieces around.

What’s on your wish list?

What’s on Sophia and Grace’s Christmas list

15th December, 2017

Shopping for Sophia and Grace‘s Christmas presents is one of my favourite parts of the festive season. Without a doubt seeing their little faces excitedly light up when it’s time to open gifts come December 25th is a highlight every year. However as anyone with children can attest what’s in one minute, will be out the next so I try to pay close attention in the lead up to Christmas when it comes to what the girls are loving. Here’s what I’ve narrowed it down to…

Alimrose Willow Fairy Doll

The girls are into all things dolls and fairies so I’m sure this will be a hit.

The Wiggles Dress Up Emma Doll

I’ve posted a few times on Instagram about Sophia’s love for the The Wiggles. It’s no surprise that she’s been eyeing this Emma doll for awhile and she’ll love the fact she can play dress ups with it.

Micro Scooters Mini Micro Deluxe

My girls are super active, especially Sophia who is at that age where she’s constantly running around. I can see her using this when we go on our daily walks.

Our Generation Clydesdale Holiday Horse

It must be a family thing because the girls love horses! This one comes with cute Christmas accessories.

Witchery Tie Front Shoe

I like to get the girls new shoes every Christmas and this particular pair has a cute bow detail that they’ll love.

Tutu du Monde Swan Queen Tutu Dress

I’m a huge fan of everything by Tutu du Monde—everything they make is so intricate and beautiful. The girls love their dresses too and I can’t resist how cute they both look in a tutu.

Witchery Girls Pearl Headpiece

I think most little girls love hair accessories and my girls are no different. I really love this headpiece for the girls to wear on special occasions.

Marquise Strawberry Underwear

Yes it’s totally practical but look how cute they are! I like incorporating practical gifts in the mix and underwear is the kind of thing that the girls can never have enough of.

Camilla Girls Tank Dress

The print on this is so cute for summer. I like vibrant and colourful pieces at this time of year and this is totally on trend.

Rock Your Kid Unicorn Circus Dress

Unicorns plus pink equals every little girl’s dream come true. The tulle skirt is also a pretty touch.

Zimmermann Swim Lumino Bikini

We’re lucky enough to live near a beach so we pretty much live there all summer which means I’m always on the hunt for cute swimmers for the girls. The print on this is gorgeous.

What I’m looking to buy my family this Christmas

5th December, 2016

xmas

This is such a great time of year but it can also be quite stressful trying to get my Christmas shopping done amongst all the other things on my to-do list – which is why I’ve learnt to scope out the shops (both in-store and online) ahead of time and make a list of possible gift ideas for my family and friends. I find if I’ve got a shortlist then it helps make getting my shopping done a much more streamlined process. If you’re looking for present ideas then here’s a peek at what I’m considering…. (my family will just have to wait till Christmas morning to see what my final choices were!).

Gifts for her:

It’s fun (sometimes a little dangerous!) shopping for my mum and sister-in-law, Hoda because I always inevitably stumble upon things I end up falling in love with too. I find that beautiful home decor such as great candle or quality towel is a great option as interior decorating is something they’re both really into. That said, they also both love fashion so a nice pair of earrings or cute shoes is always something that will put a smile on their face.

Gifts for him:

Finding gifts for my husband, Luke, brother, Tom and my dad almost always end up falling into the fashion category. I find a great tie or sunglasses is something they’ll be able to get plenty of use out of throughout the year. However I sometimes like to give them something they can wear to death during the summer break such as a pair of shorts or a hat. Fragrances are also ideal and I find it’s something most men don’t tend to buy for themselves so it’s a nice albeit useful surprise.

Gifts for kids:

Christmas in our family is now all about the kids so it’s always really fun shopping for my girls but also my niece, Rose and nephew, William. I love buying cute clothes for Sophia and Rose but they’re also into their toys so I make sure to try and maintain a balance. As Grace is still a baby I’ll probably end up with something adorable to add to her wardrobe. I find toys are always a winner for my nephew so something he can play with such as a fire engine will be something he’ll enjoy finding under the tree.
