The one thing your wardrobe needs this spring…

28th October, 2022

If there’s one thing that’s made for this time of year it’s a great dress. There’s something about dresses that are synonymous with spring — they’re light, airy and perfect for effortless dressing. With the weather starting to get warmer, it’s the perfect time to embrace a beautiful frock. Luckily there are so many different styles to choose from!

What I love most about a dress is that it defines stress-free styling. With one dress you pretty much have your look sorted – simply add a pair of great shoes, a smattering of accessories and you’re done. I often turn to dresses when I don’t have the time to fuss around with trying to mix and match separates, so it’s the ideal lifesaver for when you need to be out the door fast.

So, what styles should you be aiming for this spring? I think we’re truly spoilt for choice this season. You could embrace the cut out trend, which shows no signs of waning. There are so many options when it comes to this style, with chain stores and designers all embracing this particular design. A puff sleeve dress is also very much a trend, and one of the sweetest ways to embrace spring dressing. If you want to be a little more daring, there’s also the mesh and crochet trend which allows you to show a little skin… or a lot. And if colour is your thing you’ll definitely be pleased to know that when it comes to dresses, it’s all about the combination of floaty fabrics, feminine prints and hits of bold colour such as yellow and fuchsia. But if you’re a little more of a minimalist at heart, never fear as the beloved 90s wardrobe staple of a slip dress is going to be one of the big trends of the season—all you have to do is add a pair of slides or sandals and you’re done.

If you want to spend the next few months with as minimal dilemmas in the wardrobe department as possible, then definitely look to add a few spring dresses to your wardrobe. Because who doesn’t love easy, effortless dressing.

A few of my fave dress moments of late…

When I said I loved dresses I meant it. From events to the races to casual daywear, it’s one of my go-tos for a reason.

A cute button down dress is an easy outfit for days where you might be heading from beach to bar – easy to pop on and off, you’ll be ready for cocktails in no time.

What I Wore: In Bloom

15th August, 2017

Spring is almost upon us and if there’s one thing I’m definitely planning to add to my wardrobe it’s a gorgeous floral dress. It’s virtually a must with the warmer weather to come and the natural shift to a lighter, breezier look that comes with it. I love this particular dress by Zimmermann because it ticks all the right boxes—the print is subtle yet striking whilst the gorgeous ruffle detail throughout elevates it by giving it an interesting silhouette and the tasseled tie detail adds a bohemian feel. I can see myself wearing this with flats for a casual event and by switching up the footwear to a pair of heels, it can work perfectly for a work event or a special occasion such as a wedding. It’s a versatile piece that I know will definitely have plenty of outings over the next few months.

What I Wore: Relaxed Casual

This jersey ASOS shift dress has been a go-to for me during my pregnancy. Anything stretchy is esssential to accommodate a growing bump and it’s also super comfortable which is all I really want in anything I’m wearing the further along I get in my pregnancy. Grey marle has always been a reliable neutral for me as it goes with virtually everything which makes pulling together an outfit even easier. I’ve teamed it with a pastel Karen Millen leather jacket to add a pop of colour to the look and I’ve found metallic brogues perfectly offsets both pink and grey hues. These playful Karen Walker sunglasses are one of my faves and definitely makes a statement and the touch of pink picks up the pastel in the leather jacket. The Ralph Lauren Ricky bag is great as it leaves my hands free when I’m running errands and trying to get a million things done before the bub arrives!
