What I Wore: Rainbow Connection

16th November, 2021

I’ve always loved wearing Oscar De La Renta, simply because the brand’s designs are always so feminine and sophisticated, and always with a modern touch. This asymmetrical dress was part of the brand’s resortwear collection a few seasons ago and it’s everything a resort-style dress should be: fun, vibrant and a summer vacation personified. I immediately fell in love with the bold hues of this dress, from the sunny yellow to the sky blue. There’s something about a striped print that just feels so playful and energetic, and it just feels all the more dramatic when such a print features on a maxi dress. One shoulder styles are going to be everywhere this season, and it’s the neckline to try this spring/summer. This cotton dress is elevated further by the finishing details, from the fringed hem, to the beaded neckline. It just adds a little extra pizzazz and makes it the kind of piece you’ll feel extra special wearing.

Working with such a riot of colour, I wanted to keep the party going! So I opted for a pair of bright green strappy heels by Scanlan Theodore. I usually like having a common thread with my accessories and outfit, and in this instance the heels pick up the green in the dress nicely. If there’s one thing I highly recommend doing over summer, it’s to embrace vibrant accessories. From shoes to bags, don’t be afraid to dial up the colour and go all out. As a huge fan of all things colourful, it’s one of the things I love about dressing at this time of year—there’s licence to embrace all the colours of the rainbow.

What I Wore: 2021 Golden Slipper

1st November, 2021

Spring racing is very much in full swing and I couldn’t help but want to embrace a look that was inspired by the season. For 7 Racing hosting duties at the Golden Slipper, it was all about beautiful, vibrant pastel hues. I couldn’t go past this Oscar de la Renta one-shoulder dress, with its ethereal draping and shades of pink and orange. It was feminine and also had a fun energy to it which made it the perfect look for being trackside.

With such a bold colour palette to work with I didn’t want to shy away with my choice of accessories and wanted to go equally as striking. The brief was well and truly met with these Bottega Veneta mesh heels. They’re a playful pink and feature a sprinkling of sparkles which definitely ticked the statement box. Plus, how great would they be for a festive occasion? In terms of bag choice, I definitely wanted to embrace pink again so this shoulder bag by Bulgari was the perfect piece to accompany me. As always headwear is a must so I went with this gold hair accessory by Ford Millinery. I loved the fact that it was sleek and and simple and just the right piece to add a bold touch to my ensemble.

Celeb look of the week: Amal Clooney

10th April, 2015

Amal Clooney is by far the chicest uni lecturer I’ve ever seen! The human rights lawyer is currently a visiting professor at Columbia University in New York and she wasted no time wowing everyone on campus with this winter whites ensemble. The printed Oscar De La Renta heels and Tod’s bag provided the perfect colour accents to this look and I am loving the gorgeous coat.
