Fashion, What I Wore

What I wore this week

12th January, 2023

School holidays has me rocking more casual looks this week and it’s been great to be able to explore that side of my wardrobe a little more. Looking after two little girls, it’s mostly been about comfort interspersed with the occasional dressy look. That said, one pattern does seem to be emerging… a matching set can’t be beat. Whether it’s a shirt and shorts combination, a skirt and button down, or a crop and skirt, a co-ordinating set is definitely a great shortcut to looking polished without much effort. So, here are a few of my faves…

Brights are definitely on trend this season and this orange Kinney has been a tried and tested mood booster. A vibrant hue is always a great option for summer, plus it makes a statement. My white Gucci slides added a neutral touch and allowed the colour to shine.

I love this skirt and crop set by Seed Heritage. It’s so beautifully feminine, but the neutral hue helps to ground it and keeps it from looking too saccharine. This is a great polished look for an event. Also, each works well as separates.

Denim is always a failsafe option no matter the occasion. This shirt and shorts set is a great casual go-to and it’s perfect for wearing as separates too. These comfy Camilla and Marc slides have been a fun addition to my wardrobe and add a statement feature to a simple look. I went with a roomy Dior tote on this day, which served the practical purpose of holding all my essentials, but also added a statement pop of colour.

Oroton’s ready-to-wear range is seriously on point this season, with lots of fun pieces to embrace. This colourful printed set is the perfect resortwear look, and if you’re off on holiday, definitely consider it. I also went with a white Oroton mini bag and white sandals to add an extra touch of freshness to this ensemble.

What I Wore: Summer Daze

29th December, 2020

While it’s not quite the same sunny weather in Sydney as when I did this shoot a few weeks back, I’m still very much enjoying peak summer dress season. There are so many great silhouettes around right now, one of which is a really great voluminous sleeve. Puff sleeve details are very much front and centre for many brands, and they’ve become a firm favourite of mine because they can create such drama and impact but are still really feminine and fun.

This Acler dress is the kind of style that I know I’ll have on high rotation over the next few months. The silhouette is playful and made for summer days, while the finishing touches such as the sculptural buttons, the bodice-style waist and of course, the puff sleeves truly makes it a dress that you want to wear all the time. Plus, who can go past a crisp white for the perfect lightweight summer dress option?

I finished this look with some simple but interesting accessories. I went for classic gold Ray Ban frames and gold oversized statement earrings to add a dramatic touch and to pick up on the gold buttons on the dress. While white Bottega Veneta flats featuring the brand’s signature woven pattern add a textural element while still being high on comfort levels.

What I Wore: Statement Suiting

12th July, 2020

Traditional suiting is beautiful and an eternal style staple but it doesn’t mean it can’t also be fashion forward when it wants to be. This suit is something I was planning to wear to Fashion Week this year for the very fact it turned the concept of a suit into something that had a little more drama, and had a little more impact. The ruching detail on both the jacket and cropped pants give it a distinct point of difference and really steers the suit silhouette into something more modern and contemporary. While the statement sleeves, with its voluminous silhouette once again adds an element of theatre to this whole look.

As I was already working with such a striking suit I knew that my accessories couldn’t be too over the top. They had to be strong but also not too overpowering. I decided on a vibrant red Dior bag to help add a further pop of colour and add a more classic element to offset the edgy nature of the pants and jacket. A pair of Bottega Veneta heels help ground the look while gold Rayban frames are the perfect full stop to this ensemble.
