10 French girl outfits that you need to commit to memory this winter

28th June, 2021

If you were to think about the style that’s most imitated, most coveted, high on the list would have to be how Parisian women dress. Their effortless looks features endlessly in street style photography the world over and is referenced constantly when it comes to doing the kind of outfit that’s understated, elegant and oh-so cool. And rather conveniently there are so many Instagram accounts which curate French girl style for you, so all you have to do is go on a lengthy scroll and come away with more new outfit ideas than you know what to do with. I dare you not to walk away with a solid plan for what you’re wearing tomorrow, and the next day, and the next when you see the following…

Vibrant slacks, and a slouchy knit paired with a felt hat just feels effortless. You could sub in different colours if khaki green or Prussian blue aren’t your thing, but the vibe remains the same: understated chic.

A checked blazer paired with the perfect wash of denim and chunky black boots straddle the perfect combination of sharp tailoring worked back with edgy pieces. The addition of the dainty black crossbody bag worn on the shoulder just finishes off the look.

Love the high-low mix of this particular ensemble. The beige coat casually thrown over forest green pants and trainers is the perfect marriage of dressy and off duty pieces, while the quilted Chanel bag is the ideal elevated touch.

You can’t get more classic than white jeans and blue denim. What makes this look special is the addition of the gold ballet flats. Heaven.

A striped shirt tucked into jeans will forever be a winning combination. I love this particular ensemble for the fact it’s super chic without really trying at all.

For a look that’s total boss lady vibes but still has a fashion-y edge to it, look no further than this shining example. The beige chino cropped at the ankle, and the houndstooth blazer work together beautifully, while vibrant gem-hued loafers add a jaunty touch.

The perfect comfy, casual look for a busy mum—with a little Hermes casually thrown in, of course! Jeans rolled at the hem, black Converse high tops and a brown suede jacket just feels so utterly cool, while the choice of handbags deserves a special mention: the bandana print bag and the glorious oversized Birkin are a heavenly pairing.

Brown most definitely doesn’t have to be boring. This jacket and the shoes are the ideal pairing with classic denim, with an ever so perfect pop of colour in the form of the orange handbag.

Let’s just pause for a moment to appreciate this achingly stylish combination. The perfect pinstripe button at just the right oversized fit, with a great pleated chino is a great duo as it is but when you throw in some considered accessories, it’s just a fashion home run. The mini Birkin and the candy apple red flats just turned this outfit into something worth bookmarking for continuous future reference.

Where to begin with this look? The high waisted distressed jeans, the knotted white shirt, pulled together by a gorgeous trench just make this look. While the straw bag and the white heels are the ideal finishing pieces.
