What I Wore: The Winter Dress

22nd May, 2018

I wear dresses non-stop during summer as they’re about as easy and as comfortable as you can get in an outfit. So it’s always nice to find one that is cool weather appropriate and can take me through the next few months. This striped ribbed dress by Zimmermann is such a great winter dress. It’s a heavy knit so is definitely nice and warm, whilst the sunny yellow and white stripes give it a light feel which is a nice break from the darker tones of my winter wardrobe.

In this instance I opted to go a little dressier by pairing the dress with my black Alaïa heels. However I’m planning to swap out the heels for sneakers when I wear this dress when I’m in casual mode. It’s such a versatile dress that I think it could work with myriad shoes depending on the occasion.

A simple Gucci clutch was the perfect complementary piece for this outfit. The colour tied back to my shoes while also being a great accent piece. I kept things simple with clear sunglasses to cap off my look. Who says winter dressing has to be heavy and dark?

What I Wore: Finer details

26th December, 2017

A dressy day look is made all the easier when you have the ideal dress to start with and this Zimmermann number with its intricate broderie anglaise finish perfectly fits the bill. The colours are vibrant, making it a great option for summer whilst the deep V neck and ruffled finish lift the look, and give the dress an overall feel that’s polished meets feminine with just a touch of playfulness. It is however the embroidery and bell sleeves that steal the show. The detail and added texture make it the standout element of this ensemble, whilst statement sleeves help give the look a bold touch. Simple white Gucci sneakers ground the look, whilst a vintage style scarf used as a hair accessory feels very of the moment and just the right vibe for this time of year.

What I Wore: Party Ready

18th December, 2017

Zimmermann can always be relied upon to create a killer party dress and the latest collection doesn’t disappoint. With its statement blouson sleeve, lace chevron paneling and the perfect shade of blush pink, this particular frock is an understated and ladylike take on event dressing. Whilst the style is quite demure the deep V neck provides the perfect contrast, giving it just a touch of sexiness without being too over the top. I wanted to keep the rest of my look in the same soft tones so I went for a neutral Miu Miu clutch and Chloe sunglasses with a delicate rose gold frame. I think a party look needs one eye-catching element and in this instance I opted for my gold Gucci heels which adds a pop of colour and just a hint of glam.

What I Wore: Polo in the City

Over the weekend I headed out to Sydney’s Centennial Park to attend an event to kick off the Land Rover Polo in the City series. It was a gorgeous day so I wanted to wear something light and airy and the above lace Zimmermann dress seemed a perfect fit. With a midi hem it was just the right side of demure and as the dress was so intricate I wanted to keep accessories to a minimum so I teamed it with my gilded Gucci heels and a Helen Kaminiski straw boater. It was a lovely day out and I even managed to catch up with lots of friends too, which is always a nice bonus.

Shop the look: Ladies who lunch

28th December, 2015

Long lunches in the sun are synonymous with an Australian summer. I love this time of year when I can catch up with my girlfriends and enjoy a cocktail or two over a delicious lunch. Sometimes it’s also the perfect time to get a little dressed up. Here’s an outfit I’m definitely planning to add to my wardrobe this summer…

HEELS:   Aquazzura

Aquazzura are just nailing the statement shoe this season. I love the fringing detail on these stilettos as they add a little fun to an outfit.

BAG: Chloe

A simple shoulder bag is the perfect accessory for a dressy lunch look. I love the grey tone of this particular bag as it’s ideal for mixing and matching with a variety of different outfits.

LIPGLOSS: Bobbi Brown

When it comes to a daytime look keep things simple as far as your makeup goes but a neutral lipgloss is the perfect finishing touch.

RINGS: Samantha Wills

Stacked rings show no sign of going away anytime soon, this set from Samantha Wills is great for working back with a multitude of different looks, but gold works especially well with a crisp white outfit.

DRESS: Zimmermann

I don’t think there’s anything Zimmermann have released of late that I haven’t immediately wanted to put on my shopping list. A white summer dress is the perfect go-to lunch outfit and the broderie anglaise detail on this particular style just takes it to the next level.

Zimmermann Spring/Summer 2016

15th September, 2015

_MON0009

Zimmermann presented their Spring/Summer 2016 ready to wear collection “Master and Mischief” at New York Fashion Week and had plenty of A-list guests in attendance including Solange Knowles, Gemma Ward and Jessica Hart. The show took place at Art Beam Studio in Chelsea which provided a gritty backdrop to the Victorian inspired collection. The collection was inspired by classic Australian novel Seven Little Australians and featured plenty of delicate lace, pretty florals and embossed leather accessories. Another winning collection from one of Australia’s top labels.

What I Wore: Beach Days

13th August, 2015

IMG_0123
I’m currently on a family holiday in Italy and have been loving spending my days by the beach and enjoying the sunshine. When it comes to beachwear, I like to keep it simple. I usually opt for monochrome colours for swimwear or something classic like khaki or navy. I think wearing a crisp white shirt kaftan over a black bikini is always a great look at the beach. This Studio.W shirt is perfect for travel as it can be worn in so many different ways. I can wear it as a kaftan when I am at the beach or team it with a skirt or jeans and I can easily wear it if I’m heading out for lunch or dinner.

SHIRT/KAFTAN: Studio.W, exclusive to David Jones.
SUNGLASSES: House of Holland

Zimmermann Fall/Winter 2015

25th February, 2015

Zimmermann sent a very 70s inspired collection down the runway with lots of flowing dresses, felt hats bell sleeved tops and and fringing. And what would the 1970s be without a great pair of flares? Zimmermann sent the above look down the runway, teaming a lace top with black lace flares which I thought was a great pairing. You can also count on Zimmermann to always have really beautiful lace or amazing chiffon fabrics and intricate detail in their collections and this season doesn’t disappoint. They were also one of a handful of designers to embrace colour for their winter collection which I loved.

Zimmermann Spring 2015

10th September, 2014

01_ON_0002

Zimmermann showed its Spring 2015 RTW collection, Tell Me Seer, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, New York on Friday.

The collection was light and airy, inspired by the tarot cards of David Palladini. Silhouettes were billowing, with textures of lace, leather and coated silks layered upon sheer separates and injections of tailoring. See the full collection…
