Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: London Town

10th August, 2022

British fashion is steeped in history but is there anything more iconic to British style than the 166-year-old house of Burberry? I’ve been a longtime fan, and have always loved its polished, refined approach to design. One thing that has definitely stood the test of time, and always makes the list of forever style staples is a Burberry trench. It’s unbelievably chic, but so understated in its design that it’s the kind of thing that can be passed down from one generation to the next and it will still look as on trend as it does today. I’ve always loved the classic cotton gabardine style in the beige hue with the signature check lining, as it so easily goes with everything and is timeless in its appeal. I could wear it over a dress or jeans and a tee and it would work seamlessly each time.

On this particular occasion (I was on my way to a party) I paired it with a simple black Bec and Bridge mini dress to keep my look quite pared back, but went with sky high Gucci Mary Janes to inject some fun and give the look more of an event vibe. I finished off the look by accessorising with what else? A Burberry bag, of course. This particular top handle bag had a great textural element, and featured the iconic checked pattern. The chain strap also meant I could wear it myriad ways, whether on my shoulder, crossbody or tucked into the bag to wear it as a clutch. I truly appreciate this kind of versatility when it comes to occasion wear as I like being able to change things up according to where the evening takes me.
