Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Modern Noir

15th December, 2020

Summer dresses don’t always have to be of the light and bright variety. This black dress by Camilla and Marc is a departure from the airy styles I’ve been wearing and it’s been a nice change to embrace a summery silhouette that has a sophisticated edge. The cold shoulder detail is perfect for this time of year and makes for a fun, statement neckline. Also in keeping with the aesthetic of the brand, the sleekness is tempered by feminine touches such as the puff sleeves, ruching and cut-outs.

I wanted to keep the entire look quite sophisticated and classic and I couldn’t go past the simplicity of my black and white Chanel slingback shoes. They’re a step up from regular flats with their look and feel, but not too dressy that they’d look out of place being paired with a daytime dress. While I appreciate the timelessness of wearing black, I also didn’t want this outfit to seem flat and heavy so I wanted to add a pop of colour with my other accessories. This structured bag by Burberry features a vibrant orange accent colour which add a fun, energetic touch to this ensemble. A pair of gold hoop earrings and slicked back hair completed this look, which has definitely been a fun alternative to my usual summer colour palette and style.
