What I Wore: Royal Ascot Day Two

17th June, 2022

Day Two of Royal Ascot called for a shift in sartorial direction so I went all out with colour. This lemon yellow ensemble is perfect for a day at the races, and it’s light and bright— ideal for summer in London. This Mariam Seddiq dress is such a strong silhouette. The shoulder pads give it a bold, statement feature, while the high neckline and oversized sleeves give it a modern touch. Also in keeping with Royal Ascot dress code, it’s also midi length which is always guaranteed to be an elegant and classic look. There’s also something about a long sleeve dress that’s always guaranteed to be sophisticated and sleek.

Headwear is of course key to such a day, and I wanted to keep this look quite tonal so went with a Nerida Winter raffia headpiece featuring an oversized yellow bow that finished at my hips. It’s ultra feminine and (plus I’m a big fan of anything that features a bow) and it’s softer vibe helps balance the stronger, bolder silhouette of the dress. I opted for Louis Vuitton pieces for the final finishing touches. A silver monogrammed chain strap bag worked well to provide some contrast against the softer pastel yellows of my ensemble, while silver cap toed black pumps help ground the look and give it a little edge.
