Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Scarlet Fever

There’s nothing like getting all dolled up as a form of escapism and when there’s an opportunity to wear a Dior dress, it’s even better. This red stunner is such a classic piece—the voluminous skirt and the corset is a timeless silhouette and is often a favourite on red carpets and events because it’s such a tried and tested look.

There’s always something really empowering about wearing such a vibrant colour — red is one of those shades that you have to really go with it and embrace the fact it’s such an eye-catching hue. No time to be a wallflower in this dress! The elegance of the sweetheart neckline and the polished belt all work together to create such a beautiful event look. I wish there was an occasion on the horizon to wear this dress, but in lieu of that, it’s just fun to embrace playing dress-ups and wearing such a gorgeous piece just because.

Being lucky enough to wear this dress, I wanted to keep things strictly Dior— which isn’t difficult considering it’s a brand that always does such amazing accessories. I knew the dress had to take centre stage so I was after accoutrements that would complement not overwhelm my entire look. So I opted for classic pointed black pumps with the signature ribbon edging and a grey top handle bag. They’re strong enough to hold their own, but also have a quiet simplicity that ensures the dress is the focal point. And when the dress is pure Dior perfection, why shouldn’t it be?
