Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Summer Fresh

7th December, 2021

While I’m quite partial to a summer dress as a staple at this time of year, there’s something to be said for a playsuit. It’s a  easy style shortcut, much like the dress as you don’t have to play around with trying to mix and match pieces. I’ve found this Sheike playsuit to be a really handy piece to have in my closet as it’s a simple silhouette, but the finishing details allow me to take it different directions, whether it’s for a casual day out or a dressy lunch. For example the tie can be tied into a bow or worn loose which can give it a different vibe. The balloon sleeves add a statement element and a feminine touch plus I’ve found them to be quite flattering—there’s something about the additional volume that has an elongating effect. A crisp white piece is always a dream pairing with balmy summer days so this playsuit is perfect to have on hand as your go-to look over the next few months.

One thing I love about working with a white colour palette is that you can take it in so many different directions. Whether you incorporate plenty of colour in your accessories or opt for a subtle smattering of metallics, there’s virtually nothing that doesn’t go well with white. In this instance I wanted to keep things quite tonal so I opted for these oversized pearl earrings by Shashi. They’re a pretty finishing touch, and add a touch of drama. When you’re working with relatively silhouette I think it pays to go a touch of flair in your choice of accoutrements.
