Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: The Classics

11th July, 2023

I’ve always embraced simple, classic pieces in my wardrobe. More often than not, embracing clean lines often results in having items in my closet that are ultra wearable and versatile. The outfit I’m wearing here could be repurposed in a number of different ways, which is a great tick in the cost per wear department.

Winter is all about great jackets and coats for me. They’re the perfect way to make a statement so I always like to ensure I embrace outwear that has a strong design, but isn’t too flashy or out there in terms of finishes and colours so it’s easily paired back with a number of different looks. This jacket has a boxy silhouette which makes it a great feature piece. I like the fact it is a simple hue with minimalist fastenings so I can wear it like I have with this particular ensemble, or I could pair it with jeans for a great high-low mix. It also allows the blouse that I’m wearing to stand out, as it doesn’t have to compete with a collar or lapel.

If you’ve yet to invest in a pair of wide leg pants this winter, do it! These black pants are a great fit with just the right amount of movement, but fitted enough to not overly swamp my frame. The beauty in a style like this is that it can be dressed up or down. I could switch out the pointy boots I’m wearing in this outfit with a pair of sneakers for a more casual outfit.
