Culottes have made a comeback and they’re set to be one of the season’s biggest trends. The billowy silhouette of these pants works well as a casual outfit when worn with a singlet and flats but can be dressed up with the addition of a camisole and heels. This season you’ll find culottes in various fabrics and colours so you’re almost certainly going to find one to suit every occasion.
You can’t go wrong with monochrome. A simple cami worn with black culottes and heels can instantly take this outfit to date night or drinks with the girls. As this silhouette is so voluminous be sure to keep your heels and top quite delicate to balance it out.
While black is always classic why not go for a dramatic effect and opt for culottes in a vibrant colour? Spring/summer is all about pops of colour – just be sure to keep the rest of your outfit quite subdued to strike the right balance.
There’s something quite fresh about an all white outfit, especially during the warmer months. White culottes channel that “I’m vacationing at the French Riviera” vibe and when worn with a simple cami it’s polished perfection at its best. Also, you don’t always have to wear sky high heels; you can opt for a block heel if you’re looking for something slight more comfortable if you’re going to be on your feet the whole day.
Go for an edgier look by teaming a leather jacket and tee with a pair of dark culottes. Add a pair of statement heels to give the look a touch of attitude. You can afford to go for a pattern or print with your heels if the rest of the outfit is quite pared back.
Lindy Klim shows that a crisp white shirt is always a good idea – it works with virtually everything in any woman’s wardrobe. These navy culottes teamed with a white shirt give it a slightly preppy look but the accessories give it a modern touch.
Olivia Palermo shows that the right detail on culottes can elevate them to something slightly more elegant. The pleating on the above pair, along with the slightly stiffer fabric make them look a little more dressed up than the usual relaxed silhouette. Pointy heels are the perfect finishing touch.
