When anything involves the word Chanel you can guarantee that it will be a throughly sophisticated affair. Last week I flew down to Melbourne to attend the launch of the Chanel at Marais pop-up store and it was a touch of Parisian magic in the heart of the city. The Marais boutique on Bourke Street is housing the first Chanel retail experience outside of the brand’s standalone boutiques in Australia and is showcasing the Paris Cosmopolite 2016/17 Métiers d’art Ready-to-Wear collection.
In a nod to Karl Lagerfeld’s inspiration behind the current Métiers d’art Ready-to-Wear collection, the hub of Café Society that is the Ritz Paris, the decor of the store has been inspired by the iconic five-star hotel in Paris. Think vibrant blue-toned decor featuring everything from navy velvet sofas to indigo cabinetry and pops of electric blue LED lighting. The shopfront below is just the beginning of the truly immersive experience—once you step inside you’ll genuinely feel as if you’re in the middle of Paris.
After sipping on cocktails and losing myself in the boutique and browsing through the many Insta- and covet-worthy pieces it was time to head into an adjoining space to the Marais boutique for the launch cocktail party where everyone from influencer Nicole Warne to singer Isabella Manfredi were present. I also managed to catch up with a few friends which is also a nice bonus when attending an event! One of the highlights of the evening would have to be the performance by The Preatures on the rooftop bar. In one word: amazing.
It’s always a nice treat to be invited to such a glamorous affair and even more so when there’s retail therapy thrown in to make the experience even better. If you’re a Chanel fan run don’t walk to experience the Chanel at Marais pop-up. You’ll think you’ve died and gone to Chanel heaven.
Visit Chanel at Marais from June 15 until July 9, 2017. Marais is located at Level 1, 73-77 Bourke Street, Melbourne.
