The versatile bag design that’s worth putting on your shopping list

21st October, 2019

If there’s one thing that I always look for when it comes to purchasing a bag, it’s if it ticks the versatility box. This is especially important when I’m looking to buy an investment piece for my wardrobe. Whenever I buy a designer bag I always have to make sure that I’m able to use it for different events, dress it up or down and of course, that it can hold all my essentials. It’s sometimes hard to find a bag that essentially ticks both the form and function box and encompasses all those things, but having recently roadtested the Fendi Peekaboo bag, I can say it’s one bag design that does just that.

This beautiful design featured in Fendi’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection, which just made its debut at Milan Fashion Week. The brand’s Creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi, has worked natural materials into the current iteration of the Peekaboo, incorporating a compact raffia, latticework leather and an open weave FF logo toile into the line-up. This further shows that the bag style is one that’s enduring and is able to be reimagined season after season without losing the essence of the original silhouette.

I’ve been able to try the bag in various sizes ranging from a roomy tote to a dainty size perfect for events and I love the fact that it’s so versatile in every version. The elegant design featuring a top handle and turn clasp is a constant with the Fendi Peekaboo, but what I especially rate about the bag is that it comes in various colours and textures. I’m a fan of anything that can be tailored to the wearer’s individual aesthetic.

And the best bit? It works with myriad looks. I worked the Peekaboo back with various outfits, from jeans and a blazer to a skirt suit and a bold, punchy co-ord set and the design was able to hold its own with all three ensembles.

When it comes to any designer purchase, versatility is high on my must-haves simply because I like to ensure that the cost per wear makes the investment worthwhile. Having been lucky enough to work the Fendi Peekaboo into my wardrobe seamlessly, I think it’s definitely one design that’s well worth putting on any wish list.
