The one sneaker you need right now and how to style them

2nd August, 2023

Every so often a shoe trend comes along and generates so much buzz that it starts to plant itself on your fashion radar announcing itself as the next footwear purchase you have to make. High on the trend list this season are the classic sneaker, the Adidas Samba which was created in 1949 for soccer players. While some current shoe trends like the Alaia ballet flats in its various iterations are virtually impossible to get your hands on right now the Sambas are a little more accessible. Admittedly sizing might still be a bit tricky for some styles but for the most part, you have a good chance of finding a pair. Also, unlike other shoe trends of the designer variety, these shoes are much more affordable, and won’t cost four figures to make them yours.

You may have seen the Sambas on many an Instagram scroll as they’re an influencer fave right now, and the one thing they are is versatile. I’ve seen so many different influencers style them in different ways, from working them back with polished pieces to dressed down for a casual day out. The one thing this sneaker is is versatile. You can wear them with a suit to add an edgy touch, while Gigi Hadid favours wearing them with a pair of denim shorts and a crop top for a summer outfit that’s super cool.

So, if you’ve managed to get your hands on a pair of Sambas, or are just beginning your search, rest assured there are plenty of ways to wear them to make your investment worthwhile.
