Fashion, What I Wore

What I wore on my Euro holiday

4th August, 2023

One of the best things about being on vacation is getting to embrace “Holiday Kate”. I’ve always loved this about going away because it’s a chance for me to experiment with looks I wouldn’t usually get to wear all that often at home, and have a lot of fun with my outfits. I still like to look polished of course, but it’s about injecting some playful touches whether it be a bold print, a splash of colour or some statement eyewear or accessories.

Doing Euro summer is also licence to go big and bold or all out glam, so my wardrobe consisted of a lot of Aussie designers, vibrant accessories, textural elements and a whole lot of colour. I’m always in such a great mood whenever I’m on an overseas getaway, particularly when I’m in a spot such as Taormina in Italy which is a special place for me and has been since I was a little girl so my wardrobe reflects that. I’m all about layering prints and colours, with slightly more muted tones to achieve the right balance for all my holiday looks. Holidaying by the water is also a great time to showcase a lot of Aussie resortwear. From swimsuits by Bondi Born to loungewear pieces by Venroy, there’s definitely a lot to love about the way Australian brands do pieces that work beautifully when you’re in relaxation mode.

We also went to London and Paris on our trip so I embraced a lot of feminine pieces during that leg of our trip, once again largely comprised of Aussie designers. Whether it was a summery striped shirt dress to sightsee or a slinky textured LBD with cute bow embellishments (both pieces by the wonderful Rebecca Vallance) for a night out at the iconic Annabel’s in Mayfair I went for polished looks underpinned by feminine silhouettes and finishes. There’s definitely something magical about holiday dressing…
