What I Wore: Summer Daze

29th December, 2020

While it’s not quite the same sunny weather in Sydney as when I did this shoot a few weeks back, I’m still very much enjoying peak summer dress season. There are so many great silhouettes around right now, one of which is a really great voluminous sleeve. Puff sleeve details are very much front and centre for many brands, and they’ve become a firm favourite of mine because they can create such drama and impact but are still really feminine and fun.

This Acler dress is the kind of style that I know I’ll have on high rotation over the next few months. The silhouette is playful and made for summer days, while the finishing touches such as the sculptural buttons, the bodice-style waist and of course, the puff sleeves truly makes it a dress that you want to wear all the time. Plus, who can go past a crisp white for the perfect lightweight summer dress option?

I finished this look with some simple but interesting accessories. I went for classic gold Ray Ban frames and gold oversized statement earrings to add a dramatic touch and to pick up on the gold buttons on the dress. While white Bottega Veneta flats featuring the brand’s signature woven pattern add a textural element while still being high on comfort levels.

What I Wore: Frill Seeker

21st November, 2017

Sleek, simple dresses are a staple in my wardrobe but every so often I just want to embrace an ultra embellished style. This Acler dress, with its frill detail, cold shoulder neckline and asymmetric hem has a feminine silhouette that’s high on impact. With such a bold frock I knew I needed to tone it down with my accessories and opt for simplicity so as not to overwhelm with my overall look. My favourite Alaia heels (which have so been worth the investment from the number of wears I’ve had from them) are just the right understated heel to pair with such a dramatic dress whilst my Bvlgari top handle bag adds a classic touch to the ensemble. For a bit of fun, and to add a little edge to my ensemble I added a pair of mirrored sunglasses for the ideal finishing touch.

What I Wore: Denim Daze

20th December, 2016

I love the relaxed look of a summer dress paired with denim. This striped Acler dress looks quite dressy on its own but when teamed with a frayed jacket it gives it a little bit more of a fun, quirky vibe. I can’t get enough of the the above Steele statement jacket with its hand embroidered finish – the floral detail and slogan gives it a point of difference and looks quite fresh when teamed with crisp white. I wanted to add some interesting accessories to elevate the look and couldn’t go past Gucci. The embellished Dionysus canvas bag and gold heels with a pearl detailing perfectly offset the pared back, simplicity of the rest of the outfit.

What I Wore: Walk the Line

28th April, 2016

Myer Acler 1

A matching top and skirt set is often a great way to get numerous wears out of just two pieces. Not only do they work together as separates, as a set, it almost doubles as a dress and both can be worked back with other items in my wardrobe such as a pants or a cami. I love the bold striped print and the the draped asymmetrical cut of this skirt from Acler’s latest range. Matched with statement Proenza Schouler mules this outfit can easily go from day to night by switching up a few key accessories, such as adding a clutch for the evening and adding bold jewellery to dial up the glamour. In saying that I could easily swap to a pair of sneakers or sandals and go for something a little more casual. Strategising your wardrobe purchases to ensure you get multiple uses out of them means your fashion dollar definitely goes further.

What I Wore: New Navy

26th April, 2016

Acler 2 Myer 2

Black has always been a go-to colour of mine but more and more I’m gravitating towards navy as a failsafe neutral. It’s as wearable as black and is a great alternative when I’m not in the mood for a slightly more sombre hue. This Acler dress is a new favourite of mine as it’s as fitting in a meeting as it is for after work drinks or a day of shopping (when teamed with flats). I also like that it has taken the traditional wrap dress and given it a slightly more modern, fashion-forward look. I went for an unexpected touch by pairing it with my white Adidas Superstar sneakers which gives it an interesting high-low mix.
