Simple and elegant, Matteau should be your go-to this summer for truly beautiful understated swimwear. Their dresses are also the kind of thing you’ll want to be in all summer—think elegant silhouettes and strong hues and prints.

Joslin Studio

There’s something about the intricate detailing used on Joslin’s pieces, from pin-tucks to ruffles and shirring that make each piece feel so luxe and special. If you’re after something for a special occasion, it’s definitely a brand worth bookmarking.

Bondi Born

Their on-point swimwear, featuring an extensive style selection from bikinis to one-pieces in modern shapes and styles means Bondi Born should be on your must-have list as far as swimmers go this summer. Also, they do truly beautiful resort pieces such as classic wide leg pants and floaty dresses.

Steele

I’m a huge fan of Steele, particularly their dresses which I’ve managed to acquire a few of such is my affinity to them! They do really classic silhouettes but I love the prints and hues they work with the most.

Sir

Think of the pieces in your dream holiday wardrobe and it’s highly likely Sir have it in their collection. Think matching sets, sleek separates and just the right punchy prints to add a touch of personality.

St. Agni

If you’re a fan of sleek, minimalist designs then St Agni is right up your alley. They do both clothing and footwear (think linen shirts and understated slides), but the vibe is still simple and sophisticated, and oh-so elegant.

Matin

Think Byron meets Melbourne when it comes to the Matin aesthetic. There’s plenty of floaty fabrics and shapes and lots of sharp urban pieces that make it a label with a contemporary point of view.

Venroy

I wore this brand non-stop during my trip to Europe earlier this year (and actually almost every holiday I’ve been on for a few years) as virtually everything Venroy does is made for a summer aesthetic. I embraced lots of printed dresses and also shirts and shorts from the brand and found each piece worked overtime and was made for enjoying the sunshine.

The Aussie labels I’m shopping for spring

18th September, 2023

Shopping for my spring/summer wardrobe is always one of my favourite things to do because I love the lightweight, easy breezy pieces that are around this time of year. I have my go-to labels when it comes to pieces that are perfect for the upcoming warmer weather and they’re all homegrown. Australian brands do resortwear so beautifully and really know how to build a collection that’s perfectly suited for long balmy days without compromising on style.

Before buying anything I always review what I already own to see what gaps I need to fill, or where I can use new pieces to build on existing looks. For me, it’s all about beautiful dresses, simple cuts and breathable fabrics. I live near the beach so I tend to favour lots of relaxed pieces that I can easily wear from home to sand then out to drinks or wherever the day may take me. And this spring, these are the brands I’m all about.

Bondi Born

If you want elevated swimwear that’s sleek and sexy you can’t go past Bondi Born. I think Aussie brands just know how to do swim so beautifully and I’m never disappointed with what I see from this brand. The swimsuit I’m wearing above is from a previous collection and it’s so perfect for relaxing by the pool or at the beach, but it can also double as a bodysuit by pairing with with wide leg pants or a skirt or shorts. The cuts are super flattering and I love the simple colour palette they have in their range.

Steele

My go-to for summer dresses! Whenever I post an outfit shot of me wearing a Steele dress I will inevitably always receive DMs about it. The label just does great prints and their silhouettes are always so beautifully feminine. They really know how to create a dress that ticks all the boxes.

Camilla and Marc

I’ve been a fan of Camilla and Marc since the very beginning because without fail they always do great on-trend pieces that are perfecting for topping up my wardrobe. I find they always nail the silhouette of the season and will bring out a print or style that’s guaranteed to have people lining up to snap it up! If I’m looking for something new that’s guaranteed to be worn to death and still make a statement I know I can rely on this brand.

Venroy

Simple lines and styles is what Venroy does best and it’s why I keep coming back. They do such wearable, versatile pieces that I can wear over and over again, and will see me through season after season. I have a weakness for their linen pieces as they’re always so beautifully soft (and perfect for transitioning from spring to summer), but I also can’t go past their slightly bolder pieces. I have a striped set from Venroy that I wore non-stop last summer and will continue doing so this summer.

Aje

I can always rely on Aje to deliver designs with a healthy injection of fun. Signature puff sleeves, vivid colours, a touch of drama and modern flourishes is why I keep coming back to the brand. I always inevitably end up with an Aje dress or two every season and end up wearing them constantly. A definite go-to brand of mine, I keep coming back to them again and again because I can always rely on their statement-making designs.

One brand that’s constantly in rotation in my wardrobe is Viktoria and Woods. They do really gorgeous basics, that are versatile yet look and feel elevated. My favourites include their tanks and tees, and tailored pants and jeans. I mix and match so many of their pieces in all my looks, and it’s a brand that is a consistent go-to of mine for not only spring pieces, but also year-round.

Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Aje Garden Party

10th May, 2018

Whenever I attend a fashion show I always like to show support for the brand by wearing one of their pieces. I was lucky enough to be able to wear the below Aje dress before it has dropped in stores and it was the perfect vibe for their show which took place in Sydney’s Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden.

The gorgeous colour perfectly complemented the lush surrounds but I was all about the beautiful silhouette of the dress. The exaggerated flounces on the skirt and sleeve had great movement and it was just one of those pieces that’s just fun to walk in! The tie front added a sweet and feminine touch. I can see this working for everything from a work event to a wedding so it ticks the versatile box for me.

As the dress is already so striking I wanted to take it up a notch even more and opted to pair it with my Marco de Vincenzo heels. The braided style and the raspberry colour provided the ideal contrast piece whilst being strong enough to make their own statement.

The boutique Australian swimwear brand worth checking out this summer

30th September, 2017

As anyone who has ever had to go through the ordeal of shopping for the perfect bikini can attest, it’s damn hard work. Finding just the right style, just the right colour or print and just the right fit can be fraught with frustration as you search high and low for the elusive two piece that works on all fronts.

This summer why not keep your swimsuit search on home soil and check out boutique brand Peony swimwear. Their bikinis are designed to be mixed and matched so you can pair up identical prints or clash colours and choose a top and bottom design that not only suits your shape but in different sizes too, so you’re guaranteed the ideal fit.

Mix and match your ideal bikini on Peony’s website

Also if you’re the kind of girl who’d rather stay in her pyjamas and enjoy a glass of wine whilst she shops than have to deal with less than flattering change room fluorescent lighting then you’ll be glad to know you can shop Peony’s site from the comfort of your own home. The dual scrolling function on their website is super helpful for online shoppers as you’re able to mix and match swimsuits with an accompanying visual reference of what it will look like paired up. A definite handy feature when you’re not in a bricks and mortar store.

This summer your perfect swimsuit could be just a mouse click away.

This Aussie brand has all your spring/summer essentials sorted

17th September, 2017

If you’ve stumbled across the Instagram account of Australian brand Posse you may have already compiled a rather lengthy shopping list of pieces to add to your spring/summer wardrobe. The homegrown label’s aesthetic could be described as vintage inspired with a slightly French feel and the result is ultra wearable off duty pieces that won’t break the bank. The finishing details are what elevates each piece— whether it’s a perfectly positioned ruffled edge on a skirt to a sweet crossover straps on a jumpsuit, every piece is one that feels considered while still managing to look effortless. An interesting thing to note is that every garment is handmade by Balinese craftswomen who are able to work from home, at their own pace, allowing them the freedom to care for their families whilst still earning an above average wage. A guilt-free purchase wouldn’t you say?

These eight looks are deserving of a spot in your spring/summer wardrobe…
