Spring Racing: Oaks Day

21st October, 2014

Oaks Day is ladies day so opt for a more feminine approach on this day. Think soft, pretty and feminine when putting your outfit together. You can never go wrong with floral prints and beautiful lace but this season it’s all about pretty pastels. When it comes to headwear opt for a gorgeous floral headpiece, bejewelled headband, lace veil or fine netting, as they are the top trends for this day. When it comes to accessories you can’t go wrong with heels and clutch in a neutral tone.

Here are some race day tips to really make your Oaks Day outfit stand out from the rest:

Do’s:

– It’s all about ladylike elegance on Oaks Day.

– Pretty pastels and floral headpieces are key trends this season.

– Nude coloured accessories offer a softer approach than black.

– When it comes to nails, to compliment the feminine theme opt for a pastel nail colour. See my favourite Oaks Day nail colours HERE.

Don’t:

– Try and avoid wearing black on this day as black is bettered suited to Derby day.

– Don’t overload on fake tan. Keep your make-up soft and pretty.

– Taking your shoes off on a race day is not an option so try taking a pair of foldable ballet flats in your handbag.

Spring Racing: Melbourne Cup

13th October, 2014

Melbourne Cup day is all about having fun with your outfit so opt for bold and bright colours and make a statement with your headpiece. This season I’m loving this Camilla and Marc dress, which I teamed with Nerida Winter pom pom hat. If you can’t find accessories to match the exact colour of your dress or headpiece then don’t stress as black and metallic’s are great options this season.

Spring Racing: Derby day

9th October, 2014

Spring racing is here and Derby Day is my favourite day of the carnival because I love the tradition of black and white attire. But this season it’s all about white-on-white! I think head-to-toe white is such an elegant look as it really makes you stand out against the sea of black.  If you want to keep to tradition you can still incorporate a monochrome look with a hint of black through your accessories.
