What I Wore: Crown Sydney

20th January, 2021

I have a newfound appreciation for a great staycation given border restrictions right now so I was thrilled to be invited to check out the newly opened Crown Sydney in Barangaroo. With a luxe holiday feel, it was the the ideal time to try a few resortwear looks.

The one thing I always do whenever I’m on holiday is embrace a simple colour palette that can be mixed and matched. I went for crisp white and warm neutrals in this instance, wearing some great new pieces from Viktoria and Woods. The white pants I’m wearing below have been such a great addition to my summer wardrobe. They go with virtually anything and can easily be dressed up or down (I’ll definitely bookmark them for when the time comes when we’re able to do overseas trips again).

What’s a holiday without being able to get dressed up for a nice dinner? We were lucky to roadtest one of the new restaurants at the Crown so an LBD seemed the ideal starting point. I opted for a sleek Aje dress with a subtle cut-out and and Bottega Veneta sandals.

While poolside, I embraced one of my fave trends of summer: wearing a one-piece swimsuit with pants. I wore a one-shoulder Bondi Born swimsuit with lightweight wide leg pants by Monday Swimwear, which easily took me from sitting by the pool to being able to grab a bite to eat without missing a beat. Sleek and simple – my fave way to do holiday dressing, near or far.

What I Wore: Puff Piece

22nd September, 2020

I love working with a great statement top to anchor an entire look, such as this Hellessy top. The gorgeous puff sleeve silhouette is right on-trend and such a fun piece to work with. And the teal shade is just the right amount of freshness for a spring look. While the cold shoulder detail and the ruching finish on the sweetheart neckline all add just the right amount of drama to really elevate this look.

To allow the top to take centre stage I paired it with a white pair of Bec and Bridge jeans. These pants have been on high rotation as I love the fact they’re so easy to pair with most things, but the little touches like the subtle pintuck details helps give it a little extra depth.

I decided to venture down the path of bold accessories. In this instance it was all about a crisp white, structured Bulgari bag to add a touch of elegance. While blush pink Le Specs sunglasses added a funky and playful touch.

What I Wore: Mint Moments

31st December, 2019

Sometimes you just have to have a fun colour moment and this great skirt suit by Bec & Bridge is definitely one to do it. The mint shade is great for this time of year where everything is about light and breezy silhouettes and fabrics, and dabbling in beautiful bright hues, particularly soft pastels. I also love the textured effect of both the longline blazer and skirt which gives it just the right relaxed feel for the season. While I opted for a long sleeved ribbed top, you could easily pair this with a tee or a cami and instantly dress it up or down.

While I love the overall laidback feel of the suit, I wanted to elevate the look with my accessories. My Prada leather shoulder bag is both dressy but unfussy enough that it doesn’t make my look feel too “done” and is the perfect size for carrying everything I need for the day. I also opted for minimalist Giuseppe Zanotti heels which with its crystal heel feels a little more glam. Topped with playful pink Le Specs shades, I’m ready to tackle the day ahead.

What I Wore: Smart Casual

16th October, 2018

Whenever I see the dress code smart casual it always gives me cause for pause as I’m trying to rack my brain of what I have in my wardrobe that fits the bill. Ultimately I think it’s all about working off duty style whilst still maintaining an element of polish. It’s about marrying the best of both worlds and merging casual pieces with elevated staples.

This Carla Zampatti jacket is one such piece that is right at home when worn back with dressy separates, but I can still pair it with denim and have it look cohesive. One of my favourite combinations is jeans and a white tee, which can be super casual but when paired with a sophisticated jacket it lifts the look into one that’s polished without being too fussy. Jeans have definitely become more accepted for events and relaxed workplaces, and when worked back with classic pieces it can easily be your go-to ensemble for those times you need to dress smart casual.

Great flats are essential for smart casual dressing which is why I am really loving my new Dior flats. They’re a classic shape, incorporate sleek details and as a bonus are super comfortable to be in all day. As for my accessories, a statement bag, with structure and extra finishes such as a chain strap or embellishments is the ideal option for elevating a look without being too overwhelming. Don’t be afraid to go bold with your eyewear. These coloured Le Specs sunglasses add a modern touch, without compromising the overall vibe of my outfit.

What I Wore: The New Suit

5th June, 2018

The suit is no longer just a corporate wardrobe staple. This mainstay of many an office look has become quite the trend, with more options for modern, fashion forward suiting available. Bright, vibrant suits in shades of everything from red to the sky blue one I’m wearing below have become a great go-to for those times when you need a dressy look. Plus for those wanting to do something a little different a suit has also become a sleek alternative to wearing a dress.

Whilst suits can vary in price point, a good quality one can be quite expensive. For this reason I am loving this Iris and Ink option from The Outnet. As the in-house label of the online destination it’s an affordable, well-made option for those wanting to dip their toe in this trend. I am also loving the hue which is striking without being too over the top.

If you’re planning to wear this suit somewhere that’s a little more conservative then definitely add a blouse or cami underneath. However wearing the blazer as a top can be a sexy option for those times when you want to wear something with a little more edge.

As I was already opting for a colourful look I wanted to continue theme into my accessories. Pink sunglasses provided the ideal complementary colour to this suit and add a touch of fun. Star shaped earrings by Holly Ryan give this look a youthful teach and is the ideal finishing touch for such a bold, striking look.

What I Wore: Cool Blue

10th April, 2018

Always elegant and sleek, navy is one of those versatile, reliable hues that will always equate to a chic look whenever you wear it. It’s probably one of the reasons why it features quite prominently in my wardrobe. It’s even better when the look is anchored in quality pieces at a reasonable price. Case in point: this lightweight Uniqlo sweater is cashmere and it retails for significantly less than what you’d expect to pay for such a piece. One hundred per cent cashmere! And the great thing about Uniqlo is that they stock an extensive range of colours so you’re pretty much guaranteed to find the ideal hue. I opted for navy simple because it would seamlessly work back with most pieces I own.

I recently spoke about my love of wide leg pants so you can imagine why I couldn’t pass up this high waisted style, also from Uniqlo. I really love the tie-up ribbon feature and the knife pleats at the front which give them a sophisticated touch. I’ll easily be able to add this to my work wardrobe repertoire and can easily switch up how I wear them simply be swapping to different style tops.

To keep the look tonal I decided to pair it with my navy Bulgari top handle bag and my Le Specs sunglasses with coloured blue lenses. The cool tones complemented my ensemble and helped tie the whole outfit together.

What I Wore: Coffee Date

20th October, 2016

There’s nothing I love more than catching up for coffee with a girlfriend so it was lovely to get back into the swing of things and catch up with Nadia. I’ve been busy with Grace and Sophia recently and comfort has been key so it was nice to be able to dress up for a little time out.

I love an all white look and the beautiful spring weather allowed me to finally wear the above Lover dress. I particularly love the sleeve detail which gives it a beautiful finishing touch. As the dress is quite feminine my favourite Adidas Superstars were the perfect way to ground the outfit a little and also give the look a bit  more of a relaxed vibe. I think pairing dresses with sneakers has been a great way to really take an otherwise quite formal look in a different direction and I will definitely be trying this combination again over the new few months.
