My shopping wishlist: What I’ve got my eye on this month

2nd March, 2018

Welcome to autumn! We’re now officially in the land of trans-seasonal dressing where walking out the door requires having to deal with the fact it could go from warm one minute to cold the next. And for me this means strategically adding a few key items into my wardrobe such as lightweight knits and comfortable closed toe flats to ease my sadness at having to put my dresses and sandals into hibernation for a few months (that said, a pair of ah-mazing velvet heels may have caught my eye this month).

Whilst I’m a little sad to farewell summer the change in season has got me in the mood to plan my autumn/winter wardrobe and the new additions I’ll be making to it. Any excuse for a bout of shopping, right? I’m currently refreshing my mind about what I already have in my closet so I know what might need replacing and what on-trend pieces I can add. In the process I’ve managed to find a few things that I’d love to add to my autumn wardrobe. Below is a snapshot of what’s on my radar.

Have you started planning your autumn/winter looks? I’d love to hear what you’ve got on your wishlist right now.
Gucci Jordaan gingham loafers

If the frequency at which I wear my Gucci loafer slides is anything to go by a new pair would definitely get plenty of use. The shape of these is so flattering and they’re comfy too. The poppy gingham print is the perfect colourful touch to what will be an endless stream of moody, neutral shades over the next few months.

Chloe Poppy heart-framed shaped glasses

These Lolita-esque sunglasses are an adorable shape that will add a playful finishing touch to any look. Accessories are one way to really liven up a look during the cooler months.

Alexander McQueen skull and floral print scarf

I’m a big fan of scarves as they’re so easy to throw on when the weather is still slightly unpredictable. I love the colour of this, and the signature McQueen skull print.

Muun Louise wood handle bucket bag

I really like the chic, minimalist feel of this. The element of natural texture with the wooden handle is a great contrast to the all white, contemporary feel of the rest of the bag.

Oscar de la Renta tasseled beaded silk clip earrings

My obsession with statement earrings is still going strong. The colour and tassels really make this quite the striking piece.

Miu Miu ruffled printed crepe wrap skirt

Great print, great colour and a flattering wrap skirt style make this the ideal piece for dressing up a look during the week or elevating an off duty outfit.

Miu Miu Miu Lady embellished raffia and textured shoulder bag

So much to love about this bag. Only Miu Miu could get away with combining raffia, crystals and gold in the one bag and not have it look like a crazy mess but a picture of perfection.

Alexandre Birman Jessica bow-embellished velvet sandals

Autumn/winter is the perfect time to embrace luxe textures such as velvet. The colour of this would really make an outfit pop.

Johanna Ortiz Toluca cropped bow-embellished striped linen top

I would layer this under a jacket and pair it with a high waisted skirt or pant. The bow is a sweet finishing touch.

Alexander McQueen high rise ruffled detailed tiered embellished skirt

This is a dream piece but I couldn’t go past the confection of frills. It’s what statement skirt dreams are made of.

What’s on my shopping wish list this month

12th January, 2018

At the start of a new year I like to take stock of my closet and strategise what new additions I might make. Usually I’ll look at what’s currently on trend along with any gaps I have in my wardrobe and pinpoint a few things to purchase from there. Shopping for summer is always fun as the relaxed vibe of the season means it’s a good opportunity to invest in some bold and playful pieces along with standout accessories. Here’s what I have my eye on this month…

Valentino Free Rockstud Leather slides

Valentino’s Rockstud heels and flats are a signature style of the brand and now they’re taking it into summer footwear territory with these slides. The navy and white colour combination feels perfect for this time of year and the studs are an edgy touch.

Cult Gaia Luna acrylic shoulder bag

Circular bags are a huge trend and this one looks like a work of art that you can carry on your shoulder. The beaded strap is able to be detached allowing for plenty of versatility.

Jerome Dreyfus Hector leather tote

This one stood out to me because of its departure from the shape of a traditional tote. The round style looks modern whilst its beautiful tan colour makes it a versatile classic.

Zimmermann Lumino asymmetric linen midi dress

Linen dresses are a welcome trend this season due to their relaxed vibe and the added bonus that they require minimal effort on the ironing front. The sunny yellow of this Zimmermann frock caught my eye as it’s so perfect right now. Bold stripes and sweet ruffled details meet to great effect, making for a great go-to dress.

MDS striped cotton jersey top

This top is quite high on the adorable scale with its tie straps and gathered finish. Perfect with everything from a denim skirt to tailored shorts, it’s made for enjoying sunny days.

MDS striped cotton jersey wide leg pants

I couldn’t resist the matching pants to the above top! How cute do they look as a set?

Sam Edelman Rumi Dupion slippers

Simple pointed flats at a reasonable price—what’s not to love? They’re also a great colour that will really work back with a huge chunk of my wardrobe.

Freda Banana Tara faux-pearl embellished glasses

Statement sunglasses are the ideal accessory to lift an outfit and this pair, with its faux-pearl embellishment really makes for a fun addition to any look.

Milana twisted paper medium brim

I’m a firm believer in staying safe in the sun and this hat fits the bill. As a bonus they’re also on sale.

Annie Costello Brown gold halle earrings

I can envisage these architectural earrings making a stylish addition to myriad outfits and they’ll definitely be able to transition into next season, allowing me to get maximum cost per wear.

C&M Camilla and Marc Montaine dress

Breezy dresses are one of my favourite things during the warmer months and this mini dress with its tie detail will most certainly get more than a few outings for the remainder of the season.

2nd November, 2017

As we head into Christmas I’ve started to compile my wish list which seems to be growing longer by the day with the amount of amazing things around right now. This month I’m all about light, breezy pieces that will take me through summer and accessories that pop and make a statement. Perhaps you’ll fall in love with something that deserves a spot on your shopping list too?

Alice + Olivia lace mini dress

Whether it’s a beach day cover up or a simple dress for a day spent with the girls this is the perfect number to get me through summer.

Curate Ruffle of Love top

The beautiful floral print rose print on this dress makes it an eye-catching option to pair with all things denim.

Staple the Label Get It skirt

I can see this asymmetric skirt working for a night time even paired with a killer pair of heels.

Faithfull the Brand Kamaris skirt

Loving anything with ruffles at the moment so this skirt caught my eye, and the striped pattern had me sold.

Heidi Klum Intimates underwire one piece

I often like to buy a new swimsuit before summer and can’t resist the amazing range of one piece styles right now. I always stick to classic shades when it comes to swimwear and this navy maillot is perfect.

Maria Tash 14- carat gold pearl earring

How good are earring designs at the moment? Pearls are huge right now and this is a statement piece that will be the perfect finishing touch to an outfit.

Gucci Marmont cosmetic case

In trying to get my makeup collection organised I’ve also been on the hunt for a new cosmetic bag. The hot pink shape of this one by Gucci is hard to pass up, not to mention the adorable heart detail.

Christopher Kane round-frame tortoiseshell sunglasses

Tortoiseshell glasses are a classic but the round frame gives it a retro feel yet still maintains a contemporary touch.

Mehry Mu tambourine crossbody bag

Round bags are on trend and with its pom pom detail and vibrant red shade it’s the ideal showpiece to give an outfit some extra oomph.

Zimmermann scallop tie flat

I like to buy a pair of sandals each season and this neutral pair will go with go with everything in my wardrobe.

Valentino embellished suede sandals

These are party season shoes through and through. Anything with jewelled embellishments is just the thing for the festive season.

Marni gold tone enamel earrings

Bold accessories are the ideal finishing touch to lift an outfit. The mix of poppies and gold make for an striking addition to any look.

Alice + Olivia cotton canvas mini dress

The pattern, the colours… I can see this dress making its way into high rotation over the next few months.

What’s on my shopping wish list this month

4th October, 2017

This month prepping for spring racing season has me in the mood for feminine pieces, bright, vibrant colours and statement accessories. I’m feeling inspired to go bold with any new additions to my wardrobe, and if you are too, you’re bound to find something on this list that you’ll most definitely want to add to cart…

Roksanda textured leather shoulder bag

The striking blue of this bag is just the right hue to add some punch to an outfit whilst the polished gold handle and the squiggle shoulder strap add an element of interest.

Saint Laurent round-frame silver sunglasses

These 60s inspired frames will work well with casual weekend outfits and give them a hint of attitude.

Mercedes Castillo mules

Ultra on trend mules are given a modern spin with a sculpted, lacquered heel and textured white leather.

Gucci acetate and gold tone sunglasses

I have a weakness for statement sunglasses and the cat eye shape of these frames and faux pearl and gold stud embellishment has me won over.

Beaufille 10-karat gold diamond ring

Delicate rings are great for layering or as an understated adornment on its own, and this piece with its edgy spiral design caught my eye with its interesting shape.

Khaite open back satin maxi dress

A form fitting maxi is a great go-to wardrobe option during the warmer months as it’s so simple and effortlessly stylish. The side-split detail and crossover straps elevate it into a dress that could work for dressy events too.

Calvin Klein ribbed wool and cashmere-blend skirt

A fun statement piece for the office, this skirt will work well with a white button down shirt.

Cecilie Copenhagen jacquard cotton dress

The print and colour make this a standout staple for off duty dress. I can see this working beautifully with a pair of sandals.

Self-Portrait floral-lace cape-sleeved mini dress

A white dress will make a fresh addition to my spring wardrobe. I particularly love the whimsical lace detail on this frock.

Aquazzura Nairobi slingback pointed-toe flats

Flats get a fashion forward update with this pair of slingback flats. The star detail makes for a fun touch.

Balenciaga vintage chain earrings

There are times when you need to let your accessories take centre stage and this pair of hoop earrings is destined to be the focal point of any look.

Shoes of Prey heeled sandal with ankle cuff

I love the classic shape of these heels but with the addition of a tassel it makes it an instant showstopper.

Mimco Papillon tiara

I’m always drawn to striking headpieces and this piece is definitely worth bookmarking for a racing event.

Fiona Powell straw boater with frayed edge

I’ve built a solid hat collection over the years but can’t resist buying one each spring/summer season as I’m always spending time outside enjoying the sunshine. This hat is perfect for adding a stylish (and sun safe) element to any look.

Gucci appliqued mini skirt

It’s hard to resist the beautiful appliqué on this skirt, especially the rather adorable bunny. Gucci strikes again!

Gucci leather belt

A black belt is a wardrobe staple as it’s the kind of accessory that can work with everything from pants to jeans and a skirt. The gold buckle on this elevates it into something special.

Dolce & Gabbana textured leather iPhone case

It’s hard to go past the beautiful floral design of this iPhone case. It’s always nice when something utilitarian is also aesthetically pleasing too.

Lelet NY Lovestruck gold-plated headband

This handmade headband is also another great headpiece option. The simple heart design is chic and understated.

Online stores: where I shop

18th February, 2015

matches

While shopping in a bricks and mortar store is great for seeing pieces in the flesh and getting to try on outfits to check out the fit in real life, there’s still something to be said for the sheer convenience of shopping online. It also means I can shop labels from Italy, France, the United States, the UK and everything in between right from the comfort of my own home. Plus there’s just something nice about receiving a long awaited package in the mail. I often buy clothes, gifts, homewares and baby clothes online so I’ve frequented my fair share of stores, but these are my favourites…

ASOS

While I love getting aboard current trends but there are some items I know I’ll only really have a season or two so ASOS is the perfect place to get on-trend items at an affordable price. Their range is constantly getting updated too so you’re always pretty much guaranteed to find whatever it is you’re looking for.

iconic

The Iconic stocks a lot of my fave Aussie brands plus they’re great for basics and wardrobe staples. Oh and if I’m feeling really impatient or just need something in a hurry I love the fact that they’ll do same day deliveries.

Nerida-Winter

I can’t survive any race day events without a Nerida Winter headpiece so I am loving the fact that if I don’t have time to visit her store, I can easily just order something from her website.

purebaby

I’ll often hit online stores for outfits for Sophia too. I really like the range at Purebaby plus everything is organic and beautifully made.
