What I Wore: MBFWA Day Five

19th May, 2016

After a few days of quite feminine, floaty dresses I wanted to change gears a little and go for something a little more structured. A monochrome look is always a fave of mine because it’s understated and chic so I opted for a pair of black leather pants and a long white top (perfect for accommodating the bump!) and added a slightly futuristic touch with a silver clutch. My Balmain blazer has been a staple throughout this week and has proven itself to be one of those purchases that will last season after season for years to come.

What I Wore: MBFWA Day Three

17th May, 2016

From Bec & Bridge to Christopher Esber it was another day of back to back shows and with the sun shining and the weather unseasonably warm I wanted to wear something that was comfortable, airy and slight flowy to accommodate the bump. I went with a Christopher Esber top and Christopher Esber skirt which ticked all the boxes. The rest of the look was quite muted with my black Alaia heels and black Ellery sunglasses so I wanted to add a pop of colour with my Chanel clutch. Another busy day indeed!

What I Wore: MBFWA Day Two

17th May, 2016

MBFWA is on a roll and Day 2 proved impressive both on and off the runway. From pastel silks at Ginger & Smart, to bold silhouettes via Rebecca Vallance, there was a feminine edge to each show. In the wardrobe department, I chose to keep it neutral today, with a beautiful crepe SportMax shift dress with button details, another perfect silhouette for the baby bump. For the morning shows I added a beige trench by Christopher Esber. In true Esber style, the coat boasts stunning cut out details and a cape-like collar.

WHAT I WORE: MBFWA DAY ONE

15th May, 2016

MBFWA kicked off with a bang! Toni Maticevski officially opened the week with a stunning runway show at The Cutaway at Barangaroo Reserve in Sydney. I opted for colour and pleats for Day One with this Stella McCartney skirt and top ensemble. It’s perfect for a growing baby bump as it is so comfortable and easy to wear. I look forward to having fun ‘styling the bump’ for the rest of the week.

What I Wore: Walk the Line

28th April, 2016

Myer Acler 1

A matching top and skirt set is often a great way to get numerous wears out of just two pieces. Not only do they work together as separates, as a set, it almost doubles as a dress and both can be worked back with other items in my wardrobe such as a pants or a cami. I love the bold striped print and the the draped asymmetrical cut of this skirt from Acler’s latest range. Matched with statement Proenza Schouler mules this outfit can easily go from day to night by switching up a few key accessories, such as adding a clutch for the evening and adding bold jewellery to dial up the glamour. In saying that I could easily swap to a pair of sneakers or sandals and go for something a little more casual. Strategising your wardrobe purchases to ensure you get multiple uses out of them means your fashion dollar definitely goes further.

What I Wore: Light and Breezy

It seems autumn still has a few more warm days up its sleeve so I am making the most of it by sneaking in some last minute summer looks. I’m a big fan of a crisp, all-white outfit and am loving the feel of lightweight linen like these shorts from Studio.W. I’ve topped it with a simple, neutral blazer to elevate it from a casual look to one that could take me to lunch with the girls. All I need to do is add a pair of heels and I am done!

It’s funny how a particular trend comes into play and all of a sudden it’s just about the only thing I want to wear. Case in point: I have fallen hard for the current off the shoulder trend. I’ve had the above skirt in my wardrobe for awhile but teamed with a top in an off the shoulder silhouette it all of a sudden feels fresh and modern. The above Marks and Spencer top is the ideal cut, colour and fabric to easily transition it from work wear to weekend wear so I’m getting plenty of mileage out of it. As the outfit is quite neutral in tones, to add a touch of colour, I’ve teamed it with a playful pair of Preen sunglasses and a colourful Chanel clutch

If you’re a fan of this trend shop my edit of my favourite off the shoulder pieces below. I’ve got every price point covered so there’s bound to be one to suit your budget.

What I Wore: Goodnight Macaroon

7th April, 2016

Untitled design (1)

Heading into that trans-seasonal period where the weather is a little inconsistent can make getting dressed everyday a little tricky. It can sometimes be hard to predict if it’s going to be warm or a jacket kind of day and there’s nothing worse than ending up overheating or worse still, freezing the entire day. This is why I’m a big fan of long sleeved dresses during autumn. They’re great because they’ll keep you warm if the temperature suddenly drops throughout the day but they’re not so hot that you’ll end up sweltering if the weather gets warm. Plus I’m always a big believer in dresses if you want to get out the door faster. There’s no need to think about separates working together, simply pop on a dress, choose your shoes and you’re out the door.

Ease of dressing aside I’m now all about dresses given I have a burgeoning baby bump to accomodate so I’ve been on a bit of a shopping reconnaissance mission to update my wardrobe. I’ve been scouring high and low for some new labels to add to the mix and discovered Goodnight Macaroon. Their range is quite classic and they have a great range of quality staples (including a lovely selection of dresses) so it works perfectly with my wardrobe aesthetic. I snapped up the above dresses and love the fact they’re all really diverse in styles and can easily work for multiple occasions. I can wear them for a day in the office as easily as I could at an event or hanging out with my family. And what’s even better is that I’ll be able to wear them again after my pregnancy. Plus for someone who doesn’t get much time to shop, I love the fact that they have an online store so I can snap up multiple pieces without ever having to leave home.

What I Wore: The Classics

5th April, 2016

IMG_1712

There are some style staples that are eternally chic and at the top of most lists are a crisp white shirt and blue jeans. This pairing will always be a classic and with good reason – it’s understated, easy to pull together and let’s face it, unbelievably comfortable. I’ve opted for a more relaxed take on this look with a loose fitting Studio.W shirt and distressed denim, but if you want to dress it up simply opt for a more structured shirt and darker denim. To complement this look I’ve kept it quite simple with a black Proenza Schouler clutch, Preen sunglasses and statement Aquazurra heels and a neutral-hued Christian Paul watch.

What I Wore: Wrapped up

30th March, 2016

IMG_1636

I’ve always believed that you should be able to wear one item in multiple ways to ensure you get the most for your fashion dollar. This sleeveless trench is the perfect example of that. I have worn the trench as a dress in this instance and simply belted it to give it some shape but worn open and loose, it can easily work back with a pair of jeans and a tee. Great fabrics and textures are what enables a garment to have longevity and the lightweight linen of this trench will ensure that I can extend its wear through to the summer months. Also keeping an outfit in similar tones is often a great way to pull a look together and makes a chic, but subtle impact.

I am wearing Studio W’s sleeveless trench with my Gianvito Rossi heels,  Christian Paul watch, Triwa sunglasses and The Daily Edited clutch.
